is the rotary valve cover off the YL2 engine the same size? Because if it is you should swap it out. Or maybe try "this.":http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-YG1-YG5T-G6S-G7S-YG5S-Piston-Ring-STD-NEW-NOS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem19b7d38005QQitemZ110458273797QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_558wt_1167

as long as we're on this topic, what's the deal with the 5 block maxi in the photo section?
evs — 13 years ago
could it be ram air?
Evan — 13 years ago
it wouldn't mesh with the chain meaning your chain was too long? if that's the case, then maybe you should shorten it.

Hey lets hear what you've done to these things. any cure for the exploding clutch? any quick easy mods? Here's what i've done so far: i got my columbia a few months ago, kind of bad timing. i could ride it for a week before it started snowing. but i've taken out part of the baffle, cut off the stinger to where the muffler attaches to the header, and i've drilled some holes

i was just thinking that if i got a new exhaust that i would have to up-jet...but you cant get jets for the square bing. so should i just get them both?
Evan — 13 years ago
i've heard that dellorto SHA's work on the 505-1a. i was considering doing that, but i've tried to figure out how all the different sizes come into play. My engine is stock, and the exhaust is stock too. should i do something other than getting a new carb first? and also, could somebody explain the sizing for carbs and intakes for me? (i feel really stupid right about now)thanks

heat it up with a hairdryer/blowtorch, then use a hammer and a punch on the threaded side. you might have to hit it hard. If you squish the threads it's fine. you can just hammer it back in when you put it back together. it won't fall out.

I see. well i'll have to check for airleaks/clogged exhaust. Is there any way to check the exhaust besides throwing it on a grill and seeing if it helps?

okay thanks.

if it will idle on the stand but not on the ground, you could have over-tightened your clutch cable.

i'm finishing up a maxi build, and started the wiring. I've just tried wiring the coil to check for spark, but i'm not getting any. I've looked at the wiring diagrams in the wiki, but they're a little unclear as to which wires go into which terminal on the coil.any help?

I went to take the pedals off my maxi frame a few days ago and i'm having some trouble with the pin. There should be a nut on it, but instead, the pin is broken off inside the arm and somehow it's still holding. any advice on getting it out? i've tried using a punch, but it didn't work. i'll post pictures soon.

ha that's the kid who couldn't figure out how to take his wheel off saying your moped is broken.
Evan — 13 years ago
if you take the wheel off and it does spin freely, your chain could be too tight. that happened after i put a new one on.

so i got my columbia imperial 2 nights ago, got it running, and i took it for a little ride. I got up to 15, then it started to kill. I kept going and starting it, and then that stopped, and then i got up to 20 and it started four-stroking. this means i was running lean, right? so i put some electrical tape over the air filter, and that problem stopped. Then last night, i tried to start it, and no

I would be willing to trade a Columbia Imperial that i have. It's got a Sachs engine on it. It's kind of in pieces right now, as i used some on my maxi build, but it ran well. It had a 12mm Bing on it, a pipe that slips onto the header, and it also has the big sachs header. As far as i know it just needs a throttle cable and a front tire.I really want that batavus. HS50's are rad.

i was hesitant to put that up, and i'm still uneasy doing that. but that seems like a lot of coincidences, especially because it looks like he's got more than one account.

moped army took half an hour to load and made you post twice on your new virus-free computer? bull shit. i bet all of your gay porn surfing is what's really slowing it down.and if you've been about to lose your house for the past 2 years how the hell can you afford 400 mopeds? especially since you hate pedals so much...
Evan — 13 years ago
bump...seriously? nobody has a spare wheel that they'll sell?

sorry to bust up this modsman-rabblerouser conversation, but kyle, are you at some sort of sleepover where there's nothing to do but post really dumb shit on here? because that's what it sounds like.
