i have been slowly restoring a vespa ciao mostly minor issues- busted tailight, flat tire, etc. it statrs up just fine but it backfires everyso often its kinda emberassing going down thr road with it. the other rhing is it had no air filter on it when i added one it becomes damm near impossible to start. any suggestions.
picked up a 77 ciao it was missing the air breather for the carb and was leaking out fuel from the opening. i went online to get a rebuild and new air filter but i didnt realize that they had different carbs on them(sha or phgb). how do i tell which one i have and are parts universal for them especiaaly when it comes to air filter or is there a way to adapt parts to either one.

Hi everyone. So, heres the rundown just got my first moped off my neighbor its a Puch Maxi luxe 1HP the only reason i know this is the covers and vin plate say so. the throttle cable was broke when i got it i was able with dumb luck to get the right part from ebay. my first question is what year is my moped the vin plate says manufactured in 1977 does this mean its a 77 or a 78? if it helps the v
