Well I'm already running a 70cc kit on a 12 volt generator with 12 volt bulbs, so it behooves me to think that it's doable.

Let's say, hypothetically speaking, one wanted to hardwire extra 12V lights into a Puch Maxi wiring setup. Can it be done, should it be done, and how would it be done?

Pretty happy I tried to hammer out a practice length before getting to the real deal.

Yeah the clip is kinda shifty. Worked ok when my bike was stock but idk if it's up for serious ripping.

Unless you have experience, avoid going zero to kit. But the money's spent and that doesn't help. You have spark, so let's go ahead and assume the electrical is all good. I think you mentioned an electric CDI so idk if timing's an issue. That leaves fuel and air variables in the moped triad. So, let's start basic: do you have the correct spark plug for your kit? Did you get

Got a new 415 drive chain (thnx treatz), but it doesn't have a master link and I need to take like 6" off to fit my maxi. I know how to break the chain and shorten it, but do you guys have tips on putting that shit back together on the bike sans master link? Should I use the master link from my previous chain (chain was stretched so could possibly interfere)?

I like the one that's a moped

I assume all of that would require attaching a fat-ass battery to power all of the accessories?
Andy Dickson — 9 years ago
Oh I'd say they're both 65's. Definitely.

I was in Autozone the other day and noticed that you can buy pretty inexpensive waterproof LED strips? Has anyone played around with this sort of thing on a moped? I was thinking maybe setting a strip of red LEDs along the bottom of the rear fender and then hardwiring them into the break light circuit. Thoughts (and pictures if attempted) appreciated.

If my bike runs on 6 volts, is it ok to use 12 volt headlight bulbs?
Andy Dickson — 10 years ago
Pretty sure I wired up my new GUIA headlamp correctly and I just threw on a new 1157 12v 21watt bulb. The bulb is grounded. However, when I start the bike up, no headlight. Taillight comes on, bike revs out no problem. Where should I be directing my attention at this point?

shameless self-bump

I have very little clue regarding electric work. When I bought one of those GUIA headlamps from treatland, the socket came with three prongs and no label as to which prongs correspond to which wires. I have one black, one red, and one yellow/green wire (ground), but I do not know which prongs to attach to?

Just the sort of advice I was looking for. Much appreciated.

I need to replace the condenser on my e50 but I don't have access to the specific flywheel puller or the money to buy a 3-jaw. So, I was thinking about doing the rope trick and then using a rubber mallet to get the flywheel off. What should I be careful not to do?
Andy Dickson — 10 years ago
Well the points look pretty decent. Not burned up or blued. I'll try cleaning them out. Is there anyway I can test the condenser before just chucking it for a new one?

So I recently came upon some mechanical problems. Engine sputtered to death out of the blue on what had been a care free ride. It refused to start up again. I have drained the gas (had been sitting for a few months) and refilled the tank, replaced the tranny fluid (type A), replaced the spark plug with a brand new NGK equivalent, cleaned the carb, and recut all carb gaskets. When pedaling and pres

Working on a Malagutti with a 12mm Dellorto. Bike runs so/so, pretty good when moving, but refuses to idle worth a damn. Gas in tank, petcock on, just cleaned the carb, plug looks good. Thoughts? Been running fine for months, so jetting should be correct.
Andy Dickson — 11 years ago
Also, the jet should be the right size, as its been running fine for months.
Andy Dickson — 11 years ago
lol. Should read, "gas in tank"

I used a mirror to peep under the door handle, and the serial number was like 6 digits too long. Apparently, the previous owner copied a 6 digit serial number from the key itself into the maintenance record. The code should allow me to have a new key cut. Fuck yeah.

I lost the only key to my '71 Campmobile, and now I'm having a hell of a time getting anyone who can cut me a new one. Any ideas? The locksmith I was working with said that there should have been a serial number for the key somewhere in the van, but we couldn't figure out where...

I was on here a few months ago trying to find some web-links so that my friend could find a few specialty parts for her VW Camper (I think it's a 72?). Anyways, long story short I need some help finding links to Camper parts sites. Specifically, she needs a new set of window seals. Anybody know where to look for that sort of thing?
