Oh, what size grit should I clean this bitch up with? I have 400grit wet/dry. Is that fine enough or I am I needing to go into the 1000 grits?
When Cleaning this up, what direction should I move the sandpaper? Im planning on installing this thing again and running it tonight. Shit, I KNEW I soft seized. I told the cupertino guys on the first ride.
DAMN IT, I posted before but nobody responded. Here are some pictures of the piston and cylinder that I took after I pulled them off. Let me know what you think.
DAMNIT!!!! I pulled the 65metra kit cylinder off today and noticed on the exhaust side/port area there is a lot of scuffing on both the piston and cylinder. No scoring anywhere else on the piston or the cylinder except for that one area. It seemed to run well otherwise, so what next?
I was workin on the bike today with some of the guys and determined I have a SMALL air leak comming from where the cylinder meets the case. I had to really spray the carb cleaner on there for it to stall out the engine. Anyways, Is this something thats going to lean out and kill the new 65 kit on the high RPM's? Im still running the 82 jet with the 16 dell and a bullet.
with the 82 jet, and mixing a 32:1 ratio Im almost deffinitly sure this thing isnt running lean. It would have made its way up seize city with all the riding I have done since the kit install.
I second that opinion. I just got my 16.16SHA running and BOY am I dissapointed at how it performs at low end. Sputtering and 4 stroking until I reach speed and WHAM, it takes off. Why not have full power bottom to top? Im upgrading to the 20 or 21 PHBG sooner than later.
I am breaking it in, Its been running sortta hot since I installed it.
My new 65 metra kit has been running sortta hot. Not hot enough to overheat, but deffinitly warmer than usual. Im running the B6HS plug, and it runs fine. I couldnt find a 7, so I thought maybe an 8, I tried that and It wouldnt spark. What now
hmmm, if its a weak spark what would I need to replace to fix this? Maybe a new coil?
Ha, everyone seems to have this issue with the SHA. Sounds like I will be upgrading to the 21 PHBG sometime in the near future.
Well, After crusing home from cupertino tonight (about 11miles er so) I noticed that when I pull up to a redlight, my new dellorto 16.16 and metrakit do not like to idle. I have to give it a little throttle before sitting at a stop to keep it going for a wile. If I let it sit too long, it just dies. Has done this both on the stand and after a nice ride. It runs fine, just doesnt want to hold idle.
Yeah they do, I was just using an example. The average bumb brings in about 26k a year. Not bad for being an urban explorer and not paying taxes. About the carb though, I was just saying if he needs something NOW, just see if someone has the real thing used or something.
Not since I installed the kit. but it was running in tune when I had the stock set up. I did a plug chop a couple of times, Its got blackness on it after a pull at WOT so I already know its rich, Im going to run it this way until I put about 400miles on. Revs fine on stand, with load is when It has issues at the bottom end.
Maybe your just making things harder than they have to be. All that work, plus your time = Saving enough money for the real thing. $60 isnt THAT much money, even for a broke dude. Homeless guys make more than that in SF
I think all the things you listed as being benifits of having the real thing are ALL the reasons why you should just buy a real one. Just my opinion, save up the money and buy the real deal.
Dude, I would HIGHLY recomend just saving the money until you can buy a REAL Dellorto (Dellorto Direct has everything). As mentioned before, the copies dont accept dellorto jets, which means you have to go out of your way to find the ones that fit, as upposed to just borrowing the right jet size from a friend who has the real thing. Dont be cheap, you get what you pay for.
So after installing my 65 metra kit on the freespirit with the 16.16 Del, I have noticed I have almost no low end power, even with the high compression head. It dosnt bog, but 4 strokes like crazy. Once it hits around 18-20mph it FLYS as the revs pop up. What could be needin of adjustin?
That fab was so nice on the intake. Too bad he didnt weld the exhaust right. Although we did take away alot from the bio-desiel welderdude. I need to fab me up an intake though too.
dont mean to steal this posting, but check this out.http://mopedgarage.co.uk/moped-guides/breaking-in-moped/How much of this is true? I rode about 30miles, about 11 pratically non stop from Cupertino to San Jose with a 40:1 ratio as opposed to the 50:1 I usually run. Only stopped once on the 11mile non stop to cool off a little.
I Just read that adding or increasing the fuel:oil ratio durring a break in is BAD. And to only take it for 10 to 15 min runs at a time. How much of this is true? I added a bit more oil (went from 50:1 to about 40:1 or so) and I drove from cupertino to San Jose (about 11miles) varying throttle speed. I stopped once to cool down for about 10min and drove about 20min today. Here is the link to read
alright, Fab a braket it is. Right now I have it secured with a screwing brace, seems to work alright for now. I will work on the brace when I have a little more time.
So I just bought this tecno bullet from a fellow member of the site not that long ago, but it mounts like crap and I know its going to put some stress on the exhaust studs. Treats is selling the Chrome boss pipe right now, so which would be a better pipe to run with the new kit? The bullet or the boss?
Loose compression? Thats bad, well whatever. Its running and it gives good power that im happy with. Thanks for all the help dudes, it has been an experience.
Just got back after a long a long day of messin around with the new kit. Finaly got it running, and boy did it run. I put about 40miles or so on the kit giving it high revs, and low revs and all the in between. It KICKS at 15mph and up, and now im running some 32:1 oil ratio for the breakin. Tomorrow I will be doing this again, giving high revs and lows to help seat the rings. I did loose a bit of
I started with a 50:1 ratio. Zack, I just pulled the kit off. Im going to put the 50cc stocker back on so I can at least to matts house so you guys can take a looker somethin.
Well I only ask because I didnt know ahead of time which main jet my dell came with. That said, I pulled the kit off, rather than fuckin it up im just going to order the right jets, wait for the intake and then install everything. Batta bing batta boom.
Ok, I got the dropping 12 sizes is bad. I adjusted the idle and it still runs the plugs wet. Im talking covered in oil, Im going to try and adjust again right now. I will take a pic of the plug and post.
I just got to thinking, I smeared 2 stroke oil all over the cylinder and piston to install them. Could all this crap fouling the plug be the oil I rubbed on burning off? Other than that the 70 jet is 12 sizes smaller than the 82, Im sure it would probably no longer foul plugs but is that TOO lean for the metrakit?
