I used my dremel with a small cut off wheel. Two 45 degree cuts in each pad about 1/8 in wide in the first clutch and three in the second. But I also relined my clutches with longer strips of cork than the stock setup. With the stock clutch I would probly try just one cut per pad.

performed it today on my stock ped. what a difference. much smoother shifting and no slipping.

how about the clutch spring mod?
Buckey — 15 years ago
has anyone done the 45 degree cuts in thier clutches on stock tomos. how did it work? and how many cuts per pad? I found a thread but it was on a modified ped.

Tomos makes the MC 80. 80 cc and a three speed tranny. it bolts up to the frame the same as their mopeds.

I don't think the motor will care but the tranny might.

Just had a question. My 01 targa seems to max out at 3/4 throttle. tryied to adjust cable but makes it idle too high. it runs great and hits between 35-40 by speedo(I know not accurate) for reference. just wanted to know if this was normal or if I'm not using the full power range of the ped. Thanx

does anyone know what the clutch material is made of? haven't got it off yet it's at my buddies house. figured I'd see if anyone knew so I could get it before i go over there tonight. Thanks

still can't seem to get it right. is there a middle point to start at with the carb. can I use the guide in the wiki or are the carbs too different.
Buckey — 14 years ago
thanks for all the ideas. it was running very rich, the needle was all the way up. I tried playing around with it last night but didn't have much time will try some more tonight. I dont think its electrical because all the lights are good, it's when you actualy stop the rear tire that it stalls.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated. followed all the trouble shooting guides in manual and found nothing wrong. checked to see if the clutch was stuck but it wasn't. the engine dies if i hith the brake to stop the rear wheel and doesn't like to start pedaling on both wheels. still haven't got the carb quite right yet eithier could this be the problem? mikuni carb. thanks.

no carbon build up, is there an easy way to check the condenser? thanks everyone for your help so far.
Buckey — 14 years ago
I had the same problem, I mounted some carriage bolts thru the ears or feet of the stand with a nut on each side. adjusted it to the right height and cut of the excess then painted it all the same color hardly even noticeable.

didn't replace thwe condenser was wondering if that could be it. pretty sure there's no carbon built up in the combustion chamber but will check.

can I spray them with electrical cleaner or do I have to sand them?
Buckey — 14 years ago
reset the point gap and rechecked the timing and now it idles and runs good until I hit 25-30 mph and then it starts to pop out the carb. any suggestions/ideas? thanks.

use a test light or a multi meter and make sure youn are getting power to each circuit. if not follow it bake to the spot where the power ends and you will usualy find the problem.

my motor idles fine but when I try to getit to move it falls on its face and sputters and some times backfires. I checked the timing and rebuilt the carb and still no different. any help or ideas would be appreciated.

does anyone know what the amp rating is on the fusible link for a 82 AMF with minarelli motor?
Buckey — 14 years ago
does anyone have a wiring diagram or know where I can find one?
Buckey — 14 years ago
that's what i thought. it's a Minarelli engine. I guess I'll have to find a wiring scematic and see if something is wrong. although the original tail light worked fine.
Buckey — 14 years ago
trying to wire in a new tail light and I am getting contant power from the brakelight wire. what am I doing wrong? shouldn't the brake wire only get power when the lever is pulled? any help would be apreciated.
