i also think the clearance in the groove is important, i jst got new rings and they are at the tight end of the spec. i'm going to take them down a bit before closing everything.

thanks elliot. i think that guy is going for it tho. i can't remember who. ball bearing mains rock until they don't, and when they fail, they fail quick and catastrophic.

thanks for the advice everybody, very consistent. steve, great thread, kudos. Wari, thanks for the wari-warning on the oil hole. i remember in 4 stroke class every other answer on tests was "loss of oil control." crackstar, i'm interested in the crackpipe.i'm just going to put it together for now and run it in and benchmark the performance/speed for the cause and all but mostly

let us know how it goes. i'm on the same path, but need to get the unmolested engine together to benchmark it. if it's not too bad, i'll ride it all summer and break it in theb break it down next winter. the pipe will probably come the summer after. unless crackpipes are available by then.....

sorry, i get it, i see the third thread
richie — 14 years ago
steve, tell us what measurements u want and how to take them and with what. i have my cylinder off CS37 and will measure it before i reassemble. i'm not going to port yet, just smooth some things out. i'd like to see what it does stock and will proly upgrade intake and exhaust before gouging ports.i left this same message in another porting thread...sorry!
richie — 14 years ago
do you know what the range is? mine has CS37.

yeah, i'm mostly interested in having two rear sprockets on the engine drive side for hills or speed that i can switch back and forth on.the peddling thing was just a goofy idea because i read the thread about the fastest moped in bonneville. there was a discussion about 125cc kits and that's ok but it would be cool to have a 49cc engine put out for total speed. part of that would be to
richie — 14 years ago
there are two ideas here - 1 derailleur on the engine drive side and 2 derailleur on the peddle side.the engine side idea puts two driven sprokets on the rear wheel, one for hills and one for speed. yes it might break, but might not. the power transfer is on the top length of chain and i'd put the switching mechanism on the bottom. that would be something to take up the slack and something to
richie — 14 years ago
has anyone put a derailleur on a moped? you know the thing on a bicycle that moves the chain from one sprocket to another with more/less teeth. i'm thinking the front two sprockets would be good as the rears on a ped. i was also thinking of a full derailleur setup on the peddle drive side for a top speed attempt with a modified stock 50cc engine. peddle the crap out of it then plonk it into g

i can't believe you actually asked what type of moped it was.

mike, good point. i'm wondering if 10x1mm is close to the 27 threads per inch. i guess if there were 1 thread per mm that would be 25.4 threads per inch. not real close. that seems odd cause the old one doesn't look mangled. i used it to stop up the tank when i por-15ed it. the duct tape didn't work. i used a thread gage to make sure i got an exact replacement. i'm wondering if

btw, check out that sight. i really want a blockzilla and a polar pro variator in a moped frame.
richie — 14 years ago
I think it is 1/8th inch with a 27 thread per inch.
richie — 14 years ago
i had one of these on my '79 moby when i bought it and have bought a replacement. it cost $9 at a garden store, but i think you can get it cheaper. briggs and stratton make one that looks identical, but has the b&s shield on the thumb screw.http://www.snydermotorsports.com/carb.htm

i drilled two holes across from each other and used a punch and hammer and tap, tap, tapped it off.

...or your house is on a magnetic vortex...next time your at Handy, have them tell you how to start it and what to look for if it doesn't, don't let them do it, you need to do it.and put a big gas filter on it until you have some clean fuel coming through the tank. get the kind you can see thru and change it when it clogs. install it so the gas from the tank goes on the outside of the fi
