My 84 qt is bone stock-it hits with a 160 lbs rider 35mph and i have tested it next to other vehicles next to me. What does the K&n do performance wise ? Much diffeerance? Will I need to adjust my idel or rejet due to having more air flow? Do u need to make a hose that bends out from the carb so the filter sticks outside the frame? Thanks
80 windup express iiremoved crankcase cover to install new gasket- gasket just arrived- something told me to test fit cover again before i install new gasket. Everything lines up fine- cover lines up fine but leaves a gap alot wider then the gasket-removed cover -took alittle oil and brushed it around on the cover internals and crankcase it self- same deal -even tried to lightly tap with the side

1984 qt50 brakes were getting pretty thin so i decided to replace then. got basic ebc 501 shoes-front hub comes right off rear wheel had to tap a bit to get off. Put new shoes on and the front hub wont go on unless u force it and rear wheel/hub is also to tight -clip is behind shoes and brakes on ssame way as old ones were. Im lookin at an 85 3 wheel gyro scooter. Pretty much same basic motor/carb as my yamahopper. Question is It ran great last year, but now seems to have some carb. trouble. It starts right up and runs for a bit then revs real high and dies. Any clue what it may be?
I called the yamaha dealer today-they say they can get the 200 and 225 for 12.95/tire-the guy sounded like he had marbles in his mouth lol -i think he said their cheng shins but thoses kenda are 4pr like the original yokahamas and i like the tread cause it matches close to originals. i think im gonna get a price on thoses from mr marbles. Thanks
I want and need new tires for my 84 qt50. Besides maybe the dealer is their a place online that has them for cheap. I want the original style tread not the new scooter style tread. And want to keep the original sizes of 2.00x14 front 2.25x14 rear. Would like to find a nice set and tubes. Thanks
I adjusted mine in the closed position with slight slack then made final settings after i opened it up to remove excess slack. Should move freely but at the same time need a little pressure(you can feel cable moving) when you open choke. When set right bike will idel a bit faster untill you close it. Remember pull towards u opens choke.
How high should the driveshaft oil be? I dont want to change it just want to make sure it's at the proper level? Should it be right at the bottom of the lowest thread or a bit under that or ? Thanks

Same problem i had on my qt--clean carb and petcock-put on an inlive fuel filter and see if rust from tank is ur problem.
I just bought a 79 qt50 that wasn't running-got it running but the inside of the tank was rusted solid about 1" thick and after reading the suggestion here and on the web i found a great solution. I removed my tank and petcock-plugged the bottom hole with a rubber stopper-filled it half way with water then added the rest with muratic acid-I had the hose handy for over spill. 3 min later
My yamahopper has a couple issues-I have cleaned the carb , replaced jet and replaced petcock. It had and still has a slight hesisation when giving light throttle-like its starving for fuel-and it did before and still does not need the choke no matter how long it sits or how cold it is-it fires right up but races very fast like an automatic choke -give it a minute blip the throtle and it smooths a
Ign switch doesnt make a differance. I unhooked my 84 yamahoppers ign switch and all it did was loose all light/horn functions and you need to use to cutoff switch to shut it down. So basically the person that says you dont need a switch in place to run it was correct. I am going to look at the points this weekend-i think may be the culprit
Cleaned carb/petcock-put new fuel in and new 2 stroke oil. Fuel is getting to carb. Pulled plug-no spark. Put plug from my 84 qt on the 79 -and still no spark. It has been sitting for a long long time. I have no key for it but was told if i unplug the switch it would override it since its basically used as a ground.the battery is the yes original from 79 but i know it just is their for the light
I bought tonight a 79 qt50 Yamahopper-the guy could not find the ignition key. Before I waste my $ on buying a switch and finding out the bike is a dog-is their a way to override the ignition switch so i can get it running? Thanks
My qt50 has 950 miles-runs great at full or 3/4 throttle. It has a miss at low speeds or light throttle-you can feel a very slight bucking on smooth flat roads. I changed the jets -kept it factory and replaced the petcock. It runs very rich -you can smell it and is drinking alot of gas. Where do i go next?
thanks mattthat size sound better-ill get some tomorrow
84qt 50-what size should the fuel line be?? 1/4 or 3/16"Thanks Larry
The original carb has a very small drip at the fuel drain screw. I removed the screw and see their is the screw and a little spring -Is their supposed to be an oring or sometype of washer that goes between the screw and spring. Mine has none. From the looks of it it must have been leaking for a long time since the area under the carb is stained from fuel.
and last the tank - needs a good strong cleaing inside - i would kreem it if i was keeping it for myself
all the parts in this pic is one lot
heres whats left- pics enclosed
