Sears has 2 stroke premix in quart cans for around $6.50 a can.It has no ethanol in it,92 octane, with stabilizer already in it.It won't rot your fuel line or harden the carb diaphram in weed wackers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, boat motors etc. They also have a 4 stroke fuel with no ethanol for those engines.Other stores have brands like "Trufuel".Sometimes it's on sale for $3.00 a qu

I borrowed my brothers 5 horse Honda that had sat for 8 months. The motor ran but it wouldn't spray.I thought the pump was bad but it turned out that the wand tip was rusted up and plugged. So now when I get done using it I pull the trigger and wrap a twist tie around it and blow it out with the air compressor.A new pump costs as much as a whole new pressure washer. You can get replacement wands

Check for missing insulation, torn brake switck boot etc.My moped was blowing a tail light every time I rode.I thought it was railroad tracks or gravel roads causing it.The brake light wire was shorting against the mirror or turn signal switch.I can't rember for sure.I just happened to see the arc from it one night by chance.

I'll be laid-off in 2 weeks.I have over 21 years in a factory that manufacture's cold drawn steel tubing. We had 73 union employee's in October last year, now we're down to 24.We used to do $700,000.00+ in sales a month, now we're down to $200,000.We're waiting for an order from an Australian mining co. to come through and that might save my ass.I think they have to kil

I made some tubing at work that fits perfect but couldn't find anyone that could bend it.I tried heating it with a torch and bending it but it kinked.I finally took ERINL's suggestion and bought one from handy bikes(thanks ERINL).I found an old stackable chair at work that was in the trash and the leg almost fit into the stock pipe.I had to sand it on a belt sander to get it to fit in.I

Thanks for helping.I have 14 feet of tubing.I hope to get 4 or 5 headers made out of it.I'll check out the electrical contractor suggestion. The tubing is seamless 4130 chrom-moly but it's only 1/32 thick so I don't think it can be welded without burning through.I'll check the moped junkyard too.I didn't know they had the larger header. Thanks All.

Thanks .I guess I'll have to cash in a vacation day and get a two piece bi-turbo.I have a 42 tooth rear sprocket.I'm not sure if a 40 tooth from a Yardman will fit or any other brand for that matter.I hate to buy parts on-line and then try to return them if they don't fit.I"m not too thrilled about dremeling the case for a kit.I do have an 85/12/104 carb and a few jets.I had th

I drew some tubing down to fit onto the jug and into the muffler.I'm having a hard time finding a shop that can bend tubing smaller than 1.500 inch.Dang you ERNST SACHS!If I can get it bent do you guy's think it will get me any more speed with the stock muffler on it?It's for a stock Columbia Commuter. The stock header is only .750 I.D.Would this be somewhere in between stock and a 2

I think it would be best left a little tight than to take it apart and have them removed. If you could find a thinner spacer then I would split the case again. That amount of pressure on those parts isn't going to damage anything for a long time (IMHO).The spacers are hardened, the race's are hardened, the ball bearings are hardened. In a moped engine I think they should hold up and wear j

I don't have a kit so I can't say whether or not for sure if it solves the nut problem.I haven't had a problem with my stock engine. If you clean the threads with acetone and use some blue locktite and that wrench then it should stay on even with a kit.The wrench cost me $31.24 with shipping.I like to test on a kitted Sachs.
MIke applewhite — 13 years ago
This special wrench is perfect for holding the washer and allows you to tighten the nut extremely tight.I got this one from Handybikes.com. or you could make your own.

This may not work, but if you could re-line or re-cover the shoes with a urethane strip. It may grab so well that the wheel will lock.We use urethane pads at work to stop 100 pound steel tubes being drawn with 28,000 pounds of pull.We get the urethane in different hardness's and thickness's.We use 1" inch thick pads that are an "85" hardness. We did use "95" hard

I've used a two part putty called Quick Steel that I get at Ace Hardware for around $5.00.I've never used it on an intake but I have used it on a muffler and door striker hole.It sticks and gets rock hard.

I tried it without it in. I rode it about 1,000 feet to get it warmed up.Then rode down the highway for half a mile and back.It seemed like it was smoother going into mid range and leveled out quicker than usual. It just may be the humidity though.I don't think it did much so i put it back in.No time to spend on it today.

The petcock screen in the pic is brass and should be yellow in color. It's black with corrosion, restricting the flow of fuel.Your screen may be made of plastic if there is one.Try blowing it out with gumout spray and compressed air.
MIke applewhite — 14 years ago
Here's a pic of an old petcock.Maybe something wrong in yours??

Is there a vent hole in the carb body(pic of a square bing in attachment) thats plugged or too small. If gas goes in the air needs to escape;or enter if theres a vaccum created. It looks to me like the carb is sucking harder than the fuel can enter.Maybe take the screen off the petcock if it has one. That may let the fuel flow faster. It's not breathing ??:)

It looks like a bad example of how to use a cutting torch but the spark plug held up well.It looks like it was near the melting point. Running way too hot, lean,no oil,102 octane fuel??
