i used a dremel to separate a muffler and header. worked fine. a cutting disc to get it apart and then a grinding stone tool to smooth it out.

it's all a matter of finding something in stock is all. i'm just running out of patience and the 2 piece is the only thing anyone has it seems...at least on the usual rounds...1997, moped shop, junkyard, etc.

i'm tired of waiting around to the exhaust i'm hunting for and i want to do 40 before the season's out. so, i'm settling. has anyone tried coupling the bi-turbo two piece muffler section with a stock minarelli v1 exhaust pipe? just curious what the diameter jump is between the openings in the two pieces and what kind of frustration i can expect. thanks.

i didn't really expect that anything could be done. thanks for the confirmation.this was kind of the question before i buy a performance exhaust...so i guess i'm gonna take that step next. thanks again.
shankspony — 17 years ago
no, the other. as an example it's on moped junkyard's site right next to the pancake one which you are referring to in the minarelli section.

I have a 5 star general with minarelli V1 engine and i was just curious if there was anything to de-restrict on it's exhaust such as is with a puch exhaust. the muffler and pipe are welded together and i don't want to undo it for nothing.Thanks.

totally stock, my v1 is hitting around 32 mph on the speedo.
shankspony — 17 years ago
well, i just bought the one pictured for 15 bucks on auction so i'm going to give it a shot. besides that, that exact one (brand aside) is on all of these german sites which state 50cc, minarelli, scooter and other non german common phrase...so i'm feeling pretty good about it. thanks for letting me know what you guys think.

here's an example of something i'm looking at

so, 1977 mopeds is sold out of minarelli cdi units and i can't find them anywhere else, and now i have to ask this.does it make sense that a 12v ignition is relatively universal that therefore any 12v cdi unit based on a 50cc engine will work??anyone? plus if it will...think of the money that could be saved...

Ashton,if you have the Franco Morini M1, then that is the wrong spark plug. that only has a1/2 inch reach and you need a 3/4 inch reach. plus, set the plug gap correctly. I recommend the NGK BP6ES. but if you check out the manual on moped rider's there's a list of other brands and types...page 37..here's the link: http://www.mopedriders.org/html/manuals/francomorini/m1/franco

it's my roomate's pacer. it was set up by some of the guys (hell's satans) here in richmond. when she got it, it ran okay..but only did about 30-35. i toyed with it a bit, but didn't get much response. the only thing that made a difference was that the spark plug that was in there was incorrect. so i put the correct on (NGK BP6ES) and then suddenly it got awesome. it

thanks for the tip

'77 pacer, great acceleration and it maxes out a 40 mph speedo and keeps slowly picking up after that. the weird thing: it's all stock.some trouble starting though. it has to be choked and then tried a few times. then, when it starts to go, you have to pull up on the throttle cable to get the gas flow maxed out right away...probably a carb issue.

i've looked all over and the only place that lists it is 1977 and there's no telling when they'll get more in stock (it's said more in 12 days for a bit now so who knows). So, if you know of anyone/anywhere else to look, please enlighten me.also, if there is a substitute model, i'm totally into that...i just don't know what other models will go with a minarelli v1.Th

Faris...yeah, i rode it around all day today. it's great. i ordered a couple replacement things for it, no big deal - just some gaskets and what not to take away any chance of the little things getting in the way.thanks for the link for the polini kit. i want it and 1977 was sold out so..thanks. if you were to throw on the 75cc kit, how many sizes would you upjet, if any..same with the ex

dave, when you say it helped the peds performance, what exactly to you mean?was it acting up before, or were you just trying out something for the sake of trying?i have the same motor and i'm trying to get it tip top.

I need a little advice/help. It Starts and runs great now after a little minor cleaning/tweeking, but the top speed is only about 25 mph. I'm just curious if this is about the normal top speed for this moped, or if i should work with it a little more before i start putting new exhausts, etc. on it. so if you have one, let me know please. This is my first moped, but i understand the engine a

i just replaced the spark plug today in a '77 pacer with the franco morini in it. i used a NGK BP6ES spark plug and set its gap (the spark plugs's gap) to about .55mm and now it's accelerating faster and the top speed is higher than it's been since my roommate has had it. might be just having a good day with it, but there you go.

Just curious if anyone knows. I have a minarelli v1 and i'm trying to get the carb in a different direction because my performance air filter is in my way. the 15mm intake that's on 1977 looks perfect, i just don't know if it works on a stock head.any other suggestions to re-route are welcome.thanks.

i was going to jb weld a bracket on, but i'll heed the previous warning as i've never used it before and it seems sketch. grey... i like your idea, i think i'm gonna go that route. thanks. i bought a hose clamp as a back up.

the swing arm is fine and in place...the bracket that welds to the muffler and connects to swing arm is lost. flat aluminum bar, sounds like you thought i said the swingarm was screwed.
shankspony — 17 years ago
so, yeah. the mounting bracket that attaches to the swing arm has become unattached/unwelded from the muffler and is gone for good. that explains the weird metal on metal noise i was getting.of course i didn't realize this before i separated the two pieces (there used to be a weld).anyone have any suggestions beyond a tie up to the swing arm type maneuver??thanks.

I have a 14.12 SHA dellorto carb and the screw that holds down the fuel line intake (the part the fuel line attaches to) won't tighten because the threads inside the carb are worn out. any solution for re-threading a hole that small?? it's probably about a 3/16 size - maybe a size smaller.suggestions other than buying a new carb would be appreciated.thanks for any advice.

Here's the diagram i used to re-wire mine. i got is off of a previous post here. a little hard to read on screen. if you can, print i. if you can't figure something out, ask...i'm pretty familiar after my battle with it.
shankspony — 17 years ago
I don't know what year yours is or if you just got this bike or what, but on mine there is a blue wire from the magneto that is meant to recharge a battery and if it is hooked up incorrectly at all, then it will not spark. mine is an '85 by the way. just something else to look for.

i figured it out yesterday like 2 minutes after i made this post. i was confusing the silicon rectifier for something else. thanks for the assistance none the less.
