just so you know i just upjetted mine from a 54 "standard i belive" to a 66- i still have the stock exhaust but drilled and it made a great world of difference- starts easier, runs faster, and the plug is not wet- jets are cheap and easy to change- grab somewhere from say 62-66-68- and check each one from smallest to largest- good luck!
the head is flat- that is just the flash catching the sanding angles- but i did find that i have little pox of sorts that seem to have been air bubbles in the original cast- hmm... hopefully these little things won't cause any trouble-
This is it right here- pic in the attachment...
i think that i overdid this- now the piston hits the head- i have to go back to the mill and shave a little around the edge now- but will it still work- is the chamber to small???
anyone have any suggestions so i don't ruin this thing? i milled the stock head down quite a lot and don't want to melt the innards-
what would you suggest for the oil ratio after the mill job?
oops, i went a little to overboard and now the piston hits the head- so now i must go at it again and slightly bevel the inner edge- lets hope this works or i may have to get a new head-
i am gonna mill mine and get freaky with it- going to get as close to the spark plug as possible and see what happens- i well let ya know-
does anyone know if this is possible and if so what would it take? i have an 82 puch that would love to live it in the kick world-
then you will have clean dimes also!!!
check this out- never used it but it seems like it would be greathttp://www.vintageagain.com/product_info.php/products_id/73
i had this problem and still do but the only thing i could figure was to just open the gas cap every so often- maybe get a new cap-
what the hell? the thing just pulled out and now it is in my hands- jammed the little guy back in there and now it does nothing- what held this thing in? anyone have a link to a diagram??? flarg and freak and frag!!!
has head gasket and the pipe has been modified- should i take off the head gasket- wouldn't that make it leak???
oh- rubber malet- to avoid this prob in the future-
it used to crap out when full throttled but a new air box fixed that- now it seems to stumble every 30 seconds or so when it is idled with the brake on or wheel down-it seems like it wants to go faster than 25mph- it's a 2speed- so what's up-how fast are they supposed to go if they are stock anyway???
if it is a 2speed it could be that the clutch is catching as it auto downshifts-
ya- 20 bucks for a new one- air filter box that is-http://www.mopedshop.com/Moped-Air-Filters-s/55.htm
check this site for cables- they may have what you need-http://www.mopedshop.com/
mine did this also so i got a new air filter and voila- maybe that is all you need-
i use the 12v in my 82 and it has no problems- try it out- i don't believe that it will hurt anything-
anodyze is a process using DC current sorta like electroplating- neat stuff- if you got the money i suggest taking it somewhere that you can get it powdercoated- maybe that would hold up to the heat-
would the idle setting help or do we have to downjet? maybe the throttle is messed? it just seems strange to have to change the carb that came with it original or the jet size on what was stock in the first place- seems kinda odd- design flaw???
mine does this also- what i have found is that it is doing something called "4 stroking" ? does yours have the air box on it? i think that mine does it because that i have no air filter- gonna get one and check it out- if you get yours to stop doing this let me know-
it is more of a grinding noise-
i just did this recently here is what it is2 speed automatic fill with fresh transmission fluid type (F) only- ( oil capacity 9.5 oz 280cc) to bottom of oil level plugthis is quoted directly from a puch repair manual found onlinehttp://www.mopedriders.org/html/manuals/puch/sm/puchsm.htmcheck it out lots of good things to know at this site-
i have filled the transmission fluid but i didn't drain it- i will drain it all then try all new- then if it still does it?
sorry, don't know why it posted 3 times???
i see a lot of articles on here about this and was just wondering-if it has been sitting for years if maybe the sound will go away after a while- this thing only has 600miles on it- it's the 2speed and seems to do it only when idling or moving slow- the noise is hard to explain but it runs just fine- i just wish i knew someone here that i could start it up around that knew- you can find a pic
