when i break any motor mods in i vary speed, and in manual machines gearing. this allows the rings, gaskets, mated edges, etc, to seat into one another without exposing them to undo wear and tear. also on a two stroke you are liable to get some pretty spectacular detonation if you aren't careful. i always suggest either porting polishing and honing it yourself or going to someone who knows ho

it's an underbody exhaust though, but it was a decent compromise between low and high end power.
Josh S — 17 years ago
they're mechanical discs as opposed to hydraulic. another idea i had was to find some 100cc class d bike and rob the front brake assembly and the master cylinder.
Josh S — 17 years ago
dude no way it'll just bolt on, you'd have to fabricate spacers so mounts etc etc but i definitely think it's doable by a halfway competent machinist/fabricator

yeah I actually went to the simonini website and saw that. what sorta frame mods are required? is it just different brackets and what not or do you actually need to add new tubing?

Josh S — 17 years ago
yeah it'll have the name on it. towards the end of the company (after 82 or 83) they just started yankin stuff outta the parts bin and slapping it on (that doesn't mean quality suffered as far as workmanship it just means their supply was dwindling) and things got kinda confusing. the best puch i ever saw was my friend's 1977 maxi 1 spd. thing was polini kitted, bigger carb, the who

sad... really wanted to see it. on another note, i seem to recall you mentioning some technical stuff about expansion chambers. do you know what information is needed to properly design a chamber? i can get the sections cut and rolled no problem, but the fluid dynamics is WAY beyond me

first off the "cut'n'welders" are right, second off if your pipe is chromed wear a mask when yer heating/welding (whatever you end up doing) cuz chrome is nasty on the lungs.
Josh S — 17 years ago

let's say i have a 15mm carb with number x jet... if i have a 14mm carb that had a jet that was downsized proportionately to the 15mm jet, and assuming all else is equal, would that mean the fuel air mix is exactly the same?
