not sure about the athena kit....But did you put the piston in upside down?
The above advice is for methanol. Ethanol is a little gentler to seals and metal parts. Not much, but enough.
My newport used to go about 40 before I did anything to it besides ditch the airbox and go with a new filter and a biturbo.
I've had a kitted puch for years.... Never been bothered.
How do you start it without the pedals?
Plug chop and see what you're jetting is like! Also could be adjusting the mid range mix. I don't know about dell'orto, but i'd look at the needle setting on my bing.
Is there any post with a comprehensive guide to derestricting a 103?I have tried searching, but I am coming up with nothing.
of course...One ring that rules them all.. :p
If I still had my physics II book at school I would tell you the formula. I used to know it, but that was 3 years ago.
you can raise and lower the needle on the slider to help with part throttle mixture. It has several notches in it.
I realize that now. I was 16 at the time and didn't realize that there were different combinations of cylinders. It was still a bummer.
when I seized my polini kit I warped the cylinder :(I got a new piston from mopedwarehouse and it still wouldn't fit in the cylinder.
sounds like you are running your bowl dry.
the newport exhaust is one bolt on the side and 2 bolts on the cylinder head.
I think she looks pretty good man.I need to fab up something for my peugeot 103... That exhaust is tiiiny.
Is it inline with the plug?Could be a sparkplug with too high of a heat range
Plus, they don't work on load like most injection units. They work strictly on the engine speed, which is not adequate. Most good injection units hook up to the throttle as well for load compensation.
That seems to be the common theme...Mine seized due to a leaning. The thing about the polini kit:It will run great no matter how off you are on the tuning. You need to do plug chops to check. It was still running fine with a half-clogged main jet before it blew up.
Maybe it is not warped, and that stud was necking and not allowing it to hold it to the torque spec on that side.
Time for a teardown I'm afraid.Clean is the name of the game when you are working in a motor. You don't want any dirt in there, nevermind a circlip.
Ah. I assume that is a Peugeot thing.I really have no experience with these bikes, so it's always nice to hear about problem areas.
Really now. What is the benefit of doing this?
I had a polini that blew up.A piece of crap partially blocked the main jet, leaning it out severely. I wasn'd riding it at the time.It seized intake side, but did not break off the ring land like that. However, the cylinder WARPED. I got a new piston and the cylinder wasn't in round at all.It was really a shame too, it was a monster kit that ran great for a few thousand miles with no visi
've tried some before. I got it for free, but it did exactly what it said it did.
That would be something I would be interested in as well. I just got this ped and have no ideas on the specific problem areas that I can address.
Looks great!Pull that baby off and get some paint on the new welds and pipe before too much rust sets in :)
I have a peugeot 103 SP U3. I also have access to a machine shop at school, and the know how to use it.Just throwing this out there... Should I mill the stock head? If so, by how much?Thanks-Brendan
epic fail.lol just messing around aaron.
yay! somebody else in the know!Everybody always looks at me like I have two heads when I tell them that.
