I got it running. It was the plug wire.
Thanks guys, I got it running. I cleaned the starter shoes. I think shortening the plug wire by a quarter inch and putting the end back on did the trick. She is a sweet one
No it's in gear. When I turn the cranks the clutch spins, but it does not spin the crank shaft. So the flywheel does not spin to give me spark.
I removed the variator the clutch is solid on the crank
I thought I had a spark problem. I find now when I turn the cranks it doesn't spin the flywheel. So no spark. Any ideas?
Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow,
I hooked the black wire from the stator to the coil and still no spark. What's next?
R60/2, R75/7. Most of my miles were on a K75 (98K) and a R1100R (65K). Loved to ride.
I have found with old Honda's the Kehin carbs do not age well. I found a new one for a 50-1 and put the jet from the old one in it. purs like a kitten.
This was a local bike ridden by a man who owned the local IH dealership. He rode it 6 blocks to work for several years. Many people in town know it. It hadn't run in years. Crank bearings, rings, seals, new carb, belt , air filter, lots of cleaning, basket painting, and there she is. Every thing works. This is just my second moped. Over the years I have restored many Cushman's, vintage V
Thanks to the guys that responded. This is a great old bike. It belonged to the man that ran the local IH dealership. Everyone in town seen him ride it. After he passed an other fellow bought it, and got it running for a time. When I was it getting prepped to start it I pulled the air cleaner and it was half gone. I sure didn't get it clean enough. The piece on Wiki sure helped. it is working
The bike hadn't run in years. I got it started and it ran scary. It would rev up and die. I tore down the carb and cleaned it, same thing. I overhauled the engine and it runs great but it will not idle. Any advice?Dick from Wahoo NE
