I'm replacing points and I need a little more wire to work with. Where can I get this kind of connector? Would a regular ring one work?
I have next to no experience with any kind of wiring or soldering. Is there any good pictures of wired up external condensers so I can "visually learn"? I don't know where the wires would go on an external condenser or how the fitment would work. I'm pretty lost. Also, not sure what the story is with the bike, but the PO had a few old 1-owner buicks, so he kept a clean garage, w
Everyone on the last thread said to go external, but it would be much easier to just get another internal one. All I gotta do then is desolder, take the old one out, put the new one in and resolder, right?
ped is a '78 Cimatti Gran Prix XL w/ Minarelli v1I'm not getting spark and made a thread earlier this month about it. Most said I had a condensor issue (bike had been running earlier this summer; points are clean, new plug), so today I pulled off the flywheel.I'm new to this whole thing. So the condensor is the cylindar at the top held in by the flathead screw, easy enough.I have no
I want to try and replace the internal one. Not sure what to get as a replacement that's gonna work.https://www.treatland.tv/effe-CEV-condenser-p/effe-cev-condenser-6153.htmIs this what I'm looking for?
Ok so that's not the condenser. Gotta pull of the flywheel seems like
Think I'm gonna replace the condenser. Can someone link me to one that's gonna work with my engine? Is the little plastic piece just gonna clip onto the new one?
Bike is a Cimatti Gran Prix XL w/ Minarelli v1 and CEV systemI was able to ride until about last month due to a soft seize (I think) after letting it cool off and draining the tank in order to put a proper 32:1 ratio in (I think the seize was due to me eyeballing oil amount), it would start and then die after about 10 mins of riding. Then after 2 times of that (start then die), it wouldn't sta
I've heard those things just rattle themselves apart on any forum that mentions themI'd always been interested though, just dissuaded because of the bad rep.Might look into that now...
I've looked on gokartusa before and the stuff was enticing, just way to expensive considering there's quality stuff from reputable OEMs in that price range
Looking for something with a small gas engine just to ride around my propertyI know that if I wanna find something good I'm gonna have to rent a truck and drive somewhere, but I was wondering if anyone found any cheap Chinese crap on ebay that fits my vague description and can be shipped.I found this:https://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTOTEC-GAS-49cc-MINI-CHOPPER-AIR-COOLED-ORANGE-/264808142125?_trksi
Bike is a 78 Cimatti Gran Prix XL with a V1When I first bought it the airbox was full of some sort of black liquid. It was probably oil but it wasn't very viscous and just poured out easily. Probably oil and gas or maybe condensation - not totally sure. I didn't think much of it at the time. Now whenever I take off my airbox I can find about a teaspoons worth of blueish 2 stroke oil in th
I wanna register my Cimatti. Guy I bought it from didn't know what a moped was, and didn't have any paperwork.Could I just fudge the bill of sale info and have a friend act as the seller? - I don't wanna inconvenience the PO, he's old as dust and hard at hearing.I have all the other info on the bike.
I'm using ND30, but I think it's the chain tightness that's causing the resistance.
When I changed the oil on my V1 about a 2 months ago the little brown plastic cap on the top of the side of the engine broke apart. The top of it snapped off and the bottom threaded bit was screwed in the hole. (I broke it while screwing it back in)So I took a washer and a small screw and glued them together like the picture below. However recently I've noticed that the pedals are harder to t
The adjuster on the rear brake is hidden under some bodywork that acts as a chain guard on the chain side of the bike, so I have no room to get at it with my adjustable wrench. I could take the bodywork off, but it would mean dropping my swing arms and it would be a hassle
I was trying to find that happy medium with my rear brake, but after many tries I could only get the two extremes - no brakeage whatsoever and move the lever a millimeter and the drum locks. They didn't respond well to the fury-filled adjustments I continued to make.Brake cable is a mess, and the screw and nut that hold the cable to the lever on the drum are totally shredded. So, could anyone l
How should this feel?I've been riding around and whenever I'm coming up to a stop sign and am completely off throttle, the bike slows down as the engine loses revs and it feels like the piston is "sucking" or "popping" after every stroke. It's not a harsh noise, it's more of a feeling.I messed with the idle screw today to get a slightly faster, smoother idle
Grade 0000 steel wool and WD40, don't paint them, the rust should come right off, with a little effort
https://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/read.php?2,4263809Doubt I'm gonna find a set of these bad boys, nor would I even want to mount them because I'd be afraid of ruining them, but I want bags for my ped.I don't have a shelf in the back because my Gran Prix has a long seat (which I don't wanna replace because it's comfy as hell), so if anyone knows of bags that fit into the slo
What I have been doing is pulling into my driveway, coming to a complete stop with the motor idling, and engaging the choke and the revs decrease and the engine dies. Then I flip the kill switch off and petcocks off. Is this bad for the motor?
Would air be leaking out of the carb somewhere? And you're saying I could need a richer mixture when off throttle so I should screw the idle mixture screw in more?
I got a chromed exhaust pipe. I wanna clean all the built up crap in hopes that I'll idle smoother (as I idled great when I rode down the street with the whole pipe off. Wasn't making friends with the neighbors that day). I've read the wiki and read through and old thread, but I'm still not totally clear. Is my best bet to get a spray bottle of degreaser and a garden hose and s
Am I unscrewing it or screwing it in?
Ok I'm gonna change the oil once I buy some. I have another question, though. Is my bike supposed to idle? When I come to a complete stop and off the throttle the engine dies. It's not a huge deal because I just pedal away, engage the clutch and give it some air and I'm on my way, but are mopeds supposed to idle?
I'll shop around. Amazon doesn't seem to have any
I found an old thread talking about changing the clutch oil in a minarelli v1https://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/read.php?6,1654718Someone said "My original V1 owners manual in Italian from Italy says to use 600grams (this will be more than 600cc as oil is lighter than water) of non-detergent 20-30W oil in the gearbox."So should I use SAE 20, SAE 30, or 20-30w?The oil hasn't been chang
Ok so the brown cap is to fill and the screw on the bottom is to drain? And is this oil the correct kind?
