Yes, I did that but originally it was upWeird for sure.
It’s funny you mentioned the piston. When I looked at video, the origin was upside down and I corrected it. Now your making me think that since I put it the right way, it’s really the wrong way for this E50.I will post a video of what everything looks like. Thanks
5psi and it held until I released it
Thanks Papa, I get this alot lolDoes anyone know how much suction should come from chamber. When I crank and put my finger on Air Intake (air filter), i feel it suck my finger but lightly. I assume it doesn’t require to much.If gas/oil mixture is to lean, would this be an issue. Thanks
No, i did the leakdown without the carb. All good. II just want to see how much air was escaping and where from carb. Thanks
Thanks for the info.I am aware of this, i have been working on small engines for a while. That’s why I am frustrated because there is no reason for it not to work. I had the engine working after 30 years and it just stopped. After doing an air leak test, i found faulty seals. So I replaced them. I figured there was too much free air and not enough from Chamber intake. There’s not much to a 2 strok
I made an air leak tester and the only air leak is from top of carb, choke and throttle cable. So far,- all seals and bearings replaced- new gas valve- rebuilt carb with new kit- new piston rings- new spark plug (spark is good)- new gasTests- no more air leaks- good spark- 125psi compressionBadNo gas getting to chamberLast attempt, new bing carb
Last attempt, I bought a new bing. If this doesn’t work, i don’t know what’s next
I pressed the O-ring in tight. Did an air test and the air that is coming out, is from the throttle line cable. No air/gas mixture makes it to the chamber. I checked the intake pin hole from the float and gas is making its way into carb but doesn’t get pulled into chamber.I can buy a new bing but still think it may be something else.I will take it off again and do a thorough cleaning and inspectio
I did and it still pulls air
I pulled the carb again and I need some help. I posted a picture, is this normal to have a hairline crack. I don’t think so and this is probably why I am pulling air.
Yes and yes. There is a good spark
No, bowl is full and if you push overflow button, the gas leaks out.I cleaned the jet as well. Just not enough suction to pull I think. I put my finger over air intake and there is suction, but I think my seal between manifold and carb is bad. Hopefully o-ring fixes this
Once I get it going I will repack wheel bearings. For sure a dangerous piece to neglect. I will clean up the outside carb. I already repainted the moped, changed clutch and brake pads. All cables and tire were replaced. Total redo but I should clean up any excessive dirt. Thanks for the recommendations
Yes, I must agree it looks bad from the outside but I assure you that I tore it all apart and cleaned the internals. I am getting good gas flow, i changed the valve because it wasn’t working well, i cleaned the filter for the gas connection, i ran a small wire through the float intake through to throttle. I replaced the float and gaskets.I think the carb is good. If the o-ring doesn’t work, I wil
Thanks will give o-ring a try
The Bing would not come off so I used a screwdriver to pry it open(multiple time) but its only surface scratches. No issue with tightening.
Update:1- I rebuilt the seals and tested for air leaks. No leaks anymore.2- I changed the rings and tested compression, 125psi3- I rebuilt the carb and tested fuel line and all looks good4- I teated spark and all goodWith all this I thought my problem would be fixed but still no gas getting to cylinder.I am at a loss. What else can I do to test and determine why this is happening. The only other t
Yes, it works fine, just wondered if I need it connected. After reading post, I guess I don’t
Yes, but nearly every Youtube video I watch doesn’t have it. Weird how mine does.
I have been looking on the internet at e50 motors and never see one like mine. They don’t have this extra valve on the cylinder.Does anyone know why this one had it. Thanks
Thanks, I do have new rings
That’s my next step. Put it back together. If the Piston Cylinder is smooth, with no visible scratches. Do I need to hone it?
Does this crank look useable since cleaning it up. I also tested big bearing and no play room and smoothly turns. The last pic shows my piston connection but there are no bearing. Fits snug with a sleeve. It this normal since it’s stock. Thanks
Would anyone have an E50 Crankshaft they would like to part with. I am looking to replace mine. Because I live in Canada, buying new from the US is just not in the cards with exchange rate and import charges. Willing to pay (part and shipping) if price is reasonable. Thanks
That would be great, please let me know and we can work something out. Really appreciate it.
Yes, I got the moped in 1977. It sat in my shed for 33 years. I took it out, cleaned it up, put fuel in it and on the third crank, the moped ran. I was about to redo the electrical and it just stopped. Now I am slowly rebuilding it. Covid hobby. Really do not want to put lots of money into it as there’s really no market to sell. It is just a challenge for me.I will clean crank as best as I can a
Probably but I thought they were specific to the E50.Oh well, i have the right ones now, just didn’t expect to pay through the roof.
