I had the same problem with my Sachs when I first got it, you most likely need to adjust the clutch. The link below is the manual for the Sachs moped, page 23 ‘Adjusting Starter and Decompression Lever’ is what you need to look at.https://www.mopedarmy.com/w/images/7/7f/Sachs_Owner%27s_Manual_-_Suburban_and_Prima_505-1B%2C_1A%2C_1D.pdf

If these can be reproduced, I would also be interested in buying the stickers for the two engine side covers, there’s also a Tomos sticker on the front fairing that I need but that one is less important to me.

Streak of good luck on here lately with people finding their stolen mopeds, I’m happy things turned out well!

I’ve heard that oven cleaner can take off spray paint if you let it sit for awhile and use a power washer to rinse it off, it may be worth a try on latex paint too if that’s what’s on that bike…good luck!

I’d get rid of the oil injection, if it fails while you’re riding there’s no way of knowing and the engine will be junk. It’s easy to mix up some premix and fill the tank with it, you know the oil is in there.

I don’t winterize any of my peds/cars/lawnmowers/etc, I just make sure to start and run them periodically throughout the winter and I’ve never had a problem. If you’re going to park a vehicle for a long duration, like a year or more then I would properly prepare them to sit in that case.

I had a newer mongoose that had an 80cc engine on it, it was done by the prior owner. The bike was actually great for the engine conversion since it was newer and had big fat tires and disk brakes….it road and handled very good. My biggest complaint was the extreme vibration throughout the bike from the engine since the motor mounts had no rubber to dampen vibration. The exhaust was terrible as

I had one of these here in Massachusetts for awhile, it needed to be registered as a moped with a special ‘bicycle converted to a moped’ form. Overall I didn’t really like the bike, mine was done up on a newer 29” Mongoose mountain bike so the bike felt very stable at full throttle with the 80cc engine but there was massive vibration with the motor bolted directly to the frame without rubber moun

Can you describe the noises in detail and the scenario that was occurring when it happened?

I get about 26 mph out of my 1980 Sachs Suburban on flat ground which is completely stock running the 47cc head, so you’re 27 mph isn’t impressive coming from a modified engine. So either you weigh much more than me and that’s slowing things down or you have some issues someplace with your bike.

Not to sound dumb but you do have fuel in the tank? Could be a clogged fuel filter too. Also make sure there isn’t a loose wire somewhere in the ignition system.

Nice looking Tomos, I like the Brembo disk brake setup and that color is just right on that bike!

I had about seven 5 gallon VP gas jugs that we’d fill with 110 octane and bring to the track back in my car racing days, they were ok and lasted me over ten years.

Wonder why someone would buy this new 45 years ago and spend a fair amount of money to do so, and then only ride it three miles.

It’s probably the points as has already been said. I would first adjust them to the proper gap using a feeler gauge. If that doesn’t work then replace them. The condensers can go too but generally the points are the culprit.

So crazy!I’m more surprised that the VDO odometer worked for that amount of miles! I’ve seen quite a few cars with non functioning VDO odometers, I wouldn’t think the moped versions are any better.

The problem is that nobody wants to use friends and family because PayPal offers no protection to buyers, the same can be said for using a check or money order in the mail.> Moped Lar wrote:> -------------------------------------------------------> Other than consulting with a legitimate tax professional, my best advice> to everyone here is to ONLY take F&F PayPal payments or cash

I’ll take it, I PM’d you.

That’s a good score! If the engine isn’t stuck you should be able to get it running pretty easily. It looks like a bi turbo exhaust on it. If it runs I’d get it back up on the road instead of parting it out, may as well save the ones that we can.

I have that same Clinton engine (pictured), if you should need it let me know I’d be willing to sell. It has compression and spark but the carb is missing so I’ve never had it running.

There’s no title in MA, you just need a bill of sale, your MA driver’s license and $40. They give you a plate for the back that has the date it expires on a sticker and a registration.

You can get the fuel petcock from Treats and for less than $30.

I’d let it dry out for a couple days and then see how it runs. If it runs fine once dry, I’d say you have an issue someplace in the ignition system. Could be a bad spark plug wire or an issue with the coil….most likely a small crack somewhere that moisture is getting into.

If you buy, I’d be interested in the brakes on that Tomos wheel…or the entire wheel.

Just call the NH DMV and tell them your situation, I would think they would have a procedure in place as people move from state to state all the time. At the very least they may ask for the original bill of sale if you’re from a non title state. You may also want to run the vins through an online vin checker to be sure they aren’t stolen before attempting to register in NH. Since CT doesn’t tit

I’d recommend getting it. I fixed up my Sachs after it sat for thirty years. The parts were readily available from the Treats website and from the classifieds here. The whole bike including the engine is easy to work on and there is lots of info on this site and other sites if you get stuck on something.

I’m looking for a working rear brake light switch for my Sachs Suburban. My Sachs has the pedal brake for the back wheel where you pedal backwards to stop the wheel, so it needs to be the switch that works with this mechanism. Lmk what you got.
