Brn kit questions

Just recently bought an 80cc (48mm) Brn V1 kit, I was told I need to chamfer the ports and make the ports equal, I'm gonna have someone else do the work as I haven't messed with 2 stroke tuning/performance much. Do I need to do anything else to make it "bolt on"? Also, what gaskets should be used? I don't know a single thing about kits so any and all info is welcome

Re: Brn kit questions

Once all the ports are matched, chamfered, and cleaned up, you have to clean the crap out of the rest of it.

Mine looked like it was dipped in undercoating paint and then dropped into the metal shavings bin.

And that's no exaggeration. I used an air compressor and a whole can of carb cleaner on it, the paint all came off and stained my driveway.

For gaskets, if it didn't come with any, you'll have to make your own. Just trace them out on gasket paper. Pretty simple.

Re: Brn kit questions

It's more of a cylinder shaped object than an actual cylinder, you need to fully map and set up all the ports.

that's what I've heard, mine looks pretty good tho

Re: Brn kit questions

If it is anything like the unfinished brn head I got, yeah it needs a lot of cleanup.

I think Baird is right about the second dip back in the metal shavings pile.

I'm not kidding. Picking it up with bare hands and it would stab you.

And my "80" polini kit is faster than the "90" BRN kit.

yeah honestly, gonna go get some dolla-eighty-six walmart carb huffin gas and de-fuckifiy the fucked

Re: Brn kit questions

Why anyone uses carb cleaner is beyond me .

Brake cleaner is much better at cleaning , quicker , doesn't eat rubber type bits , leaves no residue and is cheaper to buy . (edited)

There's are a thousand threads on this process.

Yeah, reading some now

Re: Brn kit questions

In an earlier post, I said my polini was faster.

Well, it's not.

Going to willow springs tomorrow to goof around on their kart track, so I dusted off my race bike, which has been sitting since October.

During that time, I removed the carb, and chopped up the pipe for another bike, so I put the carb back on (20mm polini CP) with different jetting, and remade the pipe with a longer header, for more low-midrange power.

It's a friggin monster now. It'll lift the front wheel, and is easily the fastest moped-type thing I've ever ridden. Revved over 12k, with more power after that, but I shut it down because I was scared. Seriously. I mean, scared because I was wearing a t-shirt and slip ons, and my neighborhood street isn't good for 50-60+mph runs.

I'll get some video at the track tmrw.

ok, I put it on and it pops off with gas in the intake port, I think the bolts are either some weird thread, or they didn't tap the holes right, What bolts are you using/supposed to use?

Re: Brn kit questions

The intake uses M6 bolts. Nothing special.

Re: Brn kit questions

Alright, gonna try that tomorrow

Re: Brn kit questions

ended up re tapping for an m6 and slapped on a #1 grandpa intake with a 14.12 dellorto, what jet should I start with?
