Jammer springs

Any tips because I'm having a hell of a time getting these fucking things off?

Re: Jammer springs

like what do you mean?

you pull off one of the plates, and slip all the shoes off with the springs at once. you can slip them all back on this way. all of the malossi ones go on super easily, but the super high revving GY6 ones are a little tough.

i've even used like hooked picks to take off the stock ones while everything was still bolted together.

Re: Jammer springs

you can also put the clutch in a clutch puller with washers spacing it away from the back plate so you don’t mess up the starter material and put the puller in a vice if you need to hold it firmer

A hose clamp around the arms helps too. That is if you have a large enough one….

Cutting a V in a flat blade screwdriver 🪛 is a good way to take them on and off…..10/10

Re: Jammer springs

Thanks, for the help. Def appreciated.

Re: Jammer springs

I didn't even know gy6 springs were an option, I was going to fuck with the stock ones for a bit and try out the malossi springs.

Honestly the heaviest ones that come with it are the best for performance in my opinion. Best for launch and longevity. The pads tend to crack or break off with too much slip to engagement. But that could be my experience.

the stock ones are ass, absolutely TERRIBLE on the tomos jammer for anything faster than stock. they are also bad on an e50, especially if you are kitted. malossi is the move, white grabs at like 6k, yellow is like 6.5k, red is like 7k.

these red gy6 ones get you to like 7.6k on a tomos jammer when it shifts from a stop and 7.3k when it shifts into 2nd gear ratio.

here’s a video of take off up a little hill blip shifting front 1st to 2nd

🤔. Really?

Maybe on a tomos….but I tried heavier springs on an e50 with a heavily ported treats reed kit. Everything I tried above the heaviest springs it came with just slipped too much…..I felt. Maybe I did not try enough. I only tried red and yellow gy6 springs.

The stock jammer springs on my e50 + puch polini are awesome; tons of slip up to about 25-30 mph, it's almost like it has a second gear.

It may not be super cool guy awesome, but it drops me right in the power band for my pipe and the bike takes off like a rocket. (edited)

white malossi springs really are a greatest hit for the e50s and also aren’t bad on a tomos but i LOVE how with the red GY6 springs allow the motor to stay at like 7k shifting between 1st and 2nd gear. it makes pulling hills a breeze. i also run a 14PHVA on that setup so maybe if you got a larger carb, that could be part of it?

we used some both yellow and red malossi springs on an e50 Gila tm24 race bike this year in the last race of the season at MopedGP East in my friend Dickie’s bike and the swap from yellow springs to red was enough to get him to the top of the podium for the first time ever. i took the bike for a very quick spin and i have to say the launch was fucking sick (not two speed tomos sick cuz nothing will ever be that sick)

anyways as y’all saw, i put some white malossi springs on an e50 jammer yesterday and will conduct some tests with my GPS speedo to see how good take off is on flat and up a decently graded hill (it’s technically a walking path footbridge but it’s pretty steep, i’ll get an actual pitch grade off it maybe?) i’ll report back with what RPM the clutch engages at too, but yea, i HATE those stupid stock springs that come with Jammers, i basically throw them out immediately :)

Re: Jammer springs

im running the mid springs that came with my treats jammer.

i dont like high-stall. i have plenty of low-end torque on my setup.

i like to BLAST, like leave cars a football field behind you when the light changes sorta stuff. we also get to ride in the bike lane here legally in MA, so that take off is so needed for turning my 15 minute commute to work in my car into 4 minutes on my moped.

there’s really nothing like the punch from a high stalling clutch when you get back onto the throttle. love that stuff (edited)

On an A35 I’m getting a engagement at like 5.5/6k which then shifts at like 7.5/8k with the stiffest stock jammer springs and that’s me with a 14:12 carb. I don’t really think calling them garbage is true, maybe for you situation it is, but they work great on others.

what’s your 2nd gear clutch spring/pad setup?

i still think they are trash and the world would be a better place if that spring steel never made it to the spring twisting factory :)

Re: Jammer springs

EH 📣FCC of the QCB /

Cool good info.

Biggest problem I had was with the malossi reds they would never fully engage but I was also using an estoril pipe so nothing crazy. I bet they would be the jam with polini or Gila kit and a decent pipe. Gy6 red and yellow we’re not much better. But then again I don’t think I was making huge power on that bike. Just ported treats kit goodness.

Puch polini + vm20 + malossi 4 petal + estoril sidebleed here. I'll probably try stiffer springs when that bike is next in the rebuild rotation.

But yeah, it's already pretty great in my view!

Slightly stretched red on cork, but then again who actually knows the QA on a35 clutch springs. I can 12'oclock this bike no problem it grabs so good.

you're looking so DENSE in that video that even google noticed

i did miss like 90% of the action there didn’t I?

Re: Jammer springs

Just waiting on a warmer day, it's been pretty cold here and I'm not a fan of the cold. The medium springs are still kind of a let down because I already feel that I need to put on the heaviest or wait on the Malossi springs to show up. The lighter stock springs don't even need to be on the damn thing, I twisted the throttle and it sounded like bad news so I let off a bit, really revving high. Don't even think it'd be that great even for some stock jam. The mediums were a bit better, but still "meh".

Re: Jammer springs

Mhmm yes try stiffest. Also get some high temp loctite and a torque wrench after you’ve found the setup cause you’re gonna want to set and forget.

Re: Jammer springs

Thought I was going to, I'm having an issue with it revving too high and barely moving. I checked out my timing and it's perfect.

Re: Jammer springs

the springs included with the jammers have done this to me over and over again.

its why i just go straight to the malossi springs

Re: Jammer springs

Yeah, thing sounded like it was about to fucking explode. I'll order those springs soon, such a bummer though.

my moped is incredibly loud and i have to climb steep hills to get to my house. slipping clutch == ears bleeding

and im not talking about small kids playing outside, my ears. the noise is coming from the intake.

i've built an airbox to make it STFU, will be switching to high-stall. The pipe is kind loud, but i can always repack the silencer.

Re: Jammer springs

Alright, I don't know what's going on with this thing but a damn spring change and a whole lot of weirdness. I checked my timing and it seemed alright, but even then it'll rev out and barely move. Cylinder, everything else is fine. I have no idea what's going on and even looked at my clutch itself and there's nothing wrong. I've spent about 2 1/2 hours with this piece of shit.
