Re: puch/ktm hobby

Didn’t know KTM sold Puch maxis. Interesting.

Have you done any maintenance yet to address the issue?

Welcome, your English is good!

I'm not sure if these apply exactly to KTMs, but Puch certainly made several different speed models; these pages summarize the differences between them:

This page may also be helpful for determining exactly which parts your bike has: https://myronsmopeds.com/category/parts/ktm-parts/

Re: puch/ktm hobby

If you drilled through the exhaust and it is going slow, there’s a chance it is running lean.

Possibly not only the exhaust change has caused this. It may be other engine seals or gaskets are leaking due to age.

Take the time to read everything Brian posted and try some testing for air leaks or other troubleshooting. Then post back up with what you find.

You say you want to upgrade. Almost everyone will tell you to get it running right first, understand the basics, and then try to go faster. It will be cheaper to learn that way than to jump ahead and have it break.

KTMs for the US models had a Sachs engine with a bracket that the frame supported to puch bolt hole spacing, early production stated that the puch engine was to much $$ but the frames were already stamped so this the Sachs was married in but this looks like a euro model with the Kim frame but basically anything puch really bolts in from engine to swing arm to wheels pretty cool frames with larger 1.4 g tanks
