This is the 47mm piston port Puch Parma kit. Am I overthinking this? Discuss.......
Ah, haha wow yeah that don't look right. No way that's gonna run right like that. Maybe that's why people have reported lackluster performance with the kit.

Sooooooo I'm not crazy?!?
Maybe the piston is turned around ?
Crown arrow should point toward the exhaust .

No it's not. There is a boost port in the piston and a arrow I the top. If I turn it around the post port will be lined up with the bridge I the exhaust and that will put the ring gap in the exhaust port.
Two choices I can see:
1 Put a reed block on it
2 Cut a new piston.
I’d do both

My plan was to put a reed block on it when I bought it. This is the first time I really looked an the kit and saw this
I'll compare the original Zeta piston to the Parma boxed version when I get back into town. Looking at pics, I think the Zeta has a wider piston skirt.
Parmakit=headache..
Only soul who would run a parmakit was Jose before he quit and all he did was seize it every block. Only parma worth a damn is the tomos one IMO. Good luck finding out what works on it, could be a good kit if it wasn’t so poorly designed.

We'll see! I'm curious because I've seen the reviews on treats about everyone seizing it. I'm going to figure it out though!

Interesting! The skirt is wider on the other side but I can't flip it because of the boost hole in the piston and the ring gap location.
I have one in my garage I'll check as well...
I have a zeta. I’ll check it! Dang yeah this definitely would explain why people seize it.
A cylinder is only as good or as bad as the material in front of you. If they all seize, there’s a defined reason why and this def could be it!
Luckily this is an easy fix with a new piston!
What’s does intake look like with the piston on the crank at bdc?

Definitely let me know!

I haven't gotten that far yet. I have cases bored out and have to build the bottom end still. That's after I case match them. (edited)
Are you sure that boost hole isn't meant to lube the exhaust bridge ?
Ring gaps can be relocated without a lot of trouble .
Hmm , seems a pretty poor design .
Why have a boost port that big and a supposed skirt hole about an eighth its size ?
Is the pin centered front to back of the piston or is it slightly toward either ?

Which pin? The ring location pin? If so it's located where I have the black mark on top of the piston.
Derbi metrakit won’t work because the wrist pin is too low. Gila won’t work because the intake is open at BDC. The eurokit would also have this problem, but the holes are smaller.
The stock Zeta piston has no holes and intake side is much wider.
So the hunt is on for a piston that works. Maybe a scooter?
Intake sides of Zeta (Top) and Parma (Bottom)
Zeta (Left) Derbi Airsal Metra (Right)
Gila in a Zeta cylinder at BDC
Sounds like reeds would be easier, what a total goof, it's almost like they put the hole in the wrong side of the piston.

Exactly
That’s not a simple fix either! Weld/relocate the booster port and relocate the ring gap :)
Someone was high
Edit : the arrow was stamped wrong and it probably fucked up the entire assembly. They probably thought both sides of the piston skirts where symmetrical (edited)
Yeah the bosses for the ring land pins are on that same small intake side, it's baked into the casting that way.

That's possible. But then that would put the ring gap in a actually exhaust port not on the bridge. That could lead you to snag city if rpms get up there. I'm already reading someone's mind in this thread 😉

Sorry , I should have clarified . I meant the wrist pin . The ring pins are 'adjustable' .
