Yamaha Chappy lengthened swing arm

Does anyone have any information on lengthening the swing arm for LB50? I’m interested in what others may have done to get a bit better wheelbase.

Re: Yamaha Chappy lengthened swing arm

Pretty sure you would be the first man. Why?

Re: Yamaha Chappy lengthened swing arm

if it's shaft drive, that seems tricky

there might be some crossover longer shaft version? like the QT50 one?

that'd be easy, otherwise, it'd be hard.

if you're one of the chain drive ones just weld in some length, get a longer chain, and party

Chappy is chain drive, but it has a very unique swingarm to incorporate the pedal mechanism. That said, why extend it? The Chappy's form factor is excellent. I miss mine heartily, although the LB50 2spd motors are not as robust as I would have liked.

Drag racing duh, can't keep the front end down

Re: Yamaha Chappy lengthened swing arm

Have done it, not for particularly practical reasons but yea.

I cut the swingarm, found tubing that matched original OD & ID and got some 3mm tubing that fit the ID perfectly. Don't remember the sizes unfortunately.

welded everything together with new shock mounts. feels strong enough, hasn't bent yet but not muhc seat time

don't ask me to explain the pictures lol

You are correct, JP's got a 3spd semi from the overseas.
