it's basically plug and play besides the mods I listed.
So last night, i went into my transmission to try out the heavier rate springs and see how everything looked/felt and i didn't take any pictures.
I was getting some vibration that I wasn't really liking and knew something had to be up in there. Turns out, I had shimmed my kickstart shaft a bit too much. I saw wear on both the shim and top circlip, so I swapped out for a thinner shim and all the vibration was gone...pretty tight. I bet my case cover bearings are almost smoked already from that shit though. Maybe next time i replace them, I'll try out a nice high grade 608 bearing instead of just whatever my local bearing shop sells me. The tiny little guy does spin 1:1 with the crank so like...it can't hurt to have a good bearing in there.
but ok, i put the medium 1.6mm thick springs in and they are just...OK. its not much better then with the 1.5mm thick springs. If i go WOT on take off, the bike revs higher for a second, then the RPMS drop down to about where the clutch engages with the 1.5mm springs and the bike takes off. If i go like 1/4 to 1/2 throttle on take off, the bike revs higher, holds the revs and the clutch engages without the RPM drop. Kinda crappy, not desirable in my opinon.
I'm gonna try out some scooter clutch springs and see if I have any success with them. I'll update this post with info as I find it.
My old first gear was those same $33 shoes from treats with the same 9.5lb green spring and it performed very well. It was only a little worse then the jammer with lightest rate springs.
anyways, thanks for coming to my ted talk.
