About 120 dollar, middle piece is a bit too wide for a puch, so you have to make a smaller one

How did you think he is able to build all this stuff? His shop access is super legit. And he must have some super knowledgable folks to have learned from.

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Haha, yes,

Our workshop contains at the moment a colchesther lathe, bridgeport milling machine, kemppi tig AC/DC welding machine and soon some other cool machine…

Yesterday, trackday. In short, no points, dnf in both races due to engine problems and crashes.

First qualification 59,9 seconds, 2nd place

Second qualification 1:01, bit slower because i had to save my exhaust that was hitting the ground.

First race few round without problems, ather that the engine was having some weird problems, sounded like i had an empty fuel tank, but it wasn’t ;)

Though i fixed it by cleaning the carb, second race, another few good rounds, same problems again, tried to still finish the race, but in the last round a highsider finished my race :(

Only 3 people managed to place times under a minute, including me :))

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

It's one of my favorite machines to operate next to Hardinge tool room lathes.

I just appreciate old kit that is in good condition.

This bitch looks amazing to ride

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Sander Mulder /

It is!, swingarm requires a bit more reinforcement, besides that it’s lovely to ride. New exhaust gives so much more power and torque at lower rpm’s, exactly what i want. Heavier gearing, same topspeed, more torque and less wear on the engine.

Looks great. Definitely better than all of mine. How did you roll the cones?

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Sander Mulder /

Rolled them around a steel axle, just with hands and a hammer , 0,8mm sheet metal.

Exhaust is almost finished,

The header isn’t welded to the pipe yet, i have to make sure it fits.

Looks freaking awesome. But the convergence cone looks a bit steep vor a singe speed. What programm/formuöa did you use to calculate it?

Homerace this week. We've been busy all week with my main race engine but we didn't get it to run smoothly. So at friday 10.30pm. we came to the conclusion that the engine wasn't going to run good before the next day. Time for a last minute engine change. second engine is a 70cc K-star with reed cases.

This engine was perfectly tuned and running smoothly. Ready for the next day, raceday.

Q1:

Best lap: 1:01.111

The track was a bit wet, but still good traction.

The spare engine was pretty fast, but after 6 laps the clutch bell broke.

Made it to 3rd place in qualifying 1.

210828_0232-131.jpg
210828_0283-166.jpg

But 3rd place without a working engine, how further?

Time for the third engine.

A bit slower but better than nothing.

Q2:

Best lap: 1:02.164

dry track. The clutch needed some adjustments. hoping for the best in both races.

Still 3rd position on start grid with my lap time from Q1.

Race 1:

210828_1753-1032.jpg

Started on third place, fell back to fourth. Within a lap back to third. A few laps later second, but then... piston seized...

So race 1 DNF.

cylinder was still usable, piston wasn't great but we tried to make the best out of it.

engine was running again.

race 2:

started third again, kept the third position to save the engine, waiting for another seizure. After a few laps the engine was still running, so we kept going for 3rd position. After 15 long minutes finished 3rd!

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Part 2:

after the race we noticed that we had a flat tire for at least the last lap

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Did you do the puch shop gp? Get that main engine tuned up? Love seeing stuff about these euro race bikes. I wish more racers posted stuff....well in english. Thanks Sander!

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Nice work, 3rd after all that is darn impressive.

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Jurrian Mulder /

We had it at the dyno yesterday... I think Sander will make a report of last 2 races soon, with that it will become clear why this engine is equipped (not his race engine). It ran pretty good, 13.7hp and 8.7Nm torque so far!

At what rpm?

13.7 seems fairly high even 10 hp is good

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Wicked, love the home made Dyno!

At 11500 rpm. Not high enough to compete with the fastest at the moment though.

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Sander Mulder /

Ok, as promised, a race report about the last race and a short report of the race before.

Race before;

Raceday at Assen. Both qualifications without problems, in the first race the clutch bell broke.

5th place in qualification.

Last race;

Last race of the season.

First qualification the chain broke.

Not even a qualification time.

Best hopes for the second qualification.

Second qualification, engine won’t start.

In other words, no qualification time, last place on the grid, 17th.

First race,

Dry track, Good start, 4 or 5 places up from the start.

Managed to finished 5th!

Second race,

Rain… never raced on a wet track before.

Another good start, 5 places up.

1 small crash, costed about 7 seconds.

Finished 3rd…

74E4389B-F01F-4536-85C7-FDB8E71276DE.jpeg

3rd overall… first podium finish.

Currently building a silent room for the dyno. It's located literally under our house, so it has to be noice free.
