Opinions MLM Pipes

Seems MLM have put out a lot of pipes in the past years, but haven’t heard options on them. Anyone care to share? They look great and are expensive, but so they live up to performance..... ? Alll I ever here is circuit and estroril pipes are the way to go for budget and performance.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

All I ever hear about are MLM’s. All over this site. Probably depends on the bike ya ride.

I’ve got a Next Level MLM on the way I’ll comment on sooner than later.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

I bought a People’s Sidebleed used like 6 years ago and run it with a Puch Malossi Kit on my daily rider. It’s great for my city riding setup in terms of takeoff and mid-range power. Bolts up easy, no issues with the Maxi pedals, built solid as a tank. Downsides are that it’s prone to rust so I have to hit it with engine paint every few years, and the baffle doesn’t come off so it took forever to get the old packing out and repacking it was kind of sloppy. But it’s a great pipe overall and I figure the other models are too.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

Best pipes. And supports the community!

For a two speed puch the extra low end estroril and circuit has (and lower temps too) is great for daily use (and e50 too because you dont have to tune your clutch so much) but if if you have more then one bike mlm pipes are great for a blaster,

A actually mlm makes a circuit pipe for magnum angle Port cylinder now,

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

Good quality, made in America, fit and finish is always great, some are much better then others performance wise. I have had many, currently have 3 bikes running MLM pipes and recently bought another to add the quiver. Buy them when there is a sale and then the price isn’t bad for what you get.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

Terbo Speghetti /

Fit is questionable, welds have gotten less and less high quality with each passing year. Get a crank pipe

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

Where does one even buy a cranks pipe?

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

Interesting so some mixed reviews as anything with products these days. I have never ran one and with treats pushing the MLM products with there partnerships I am interested on what the true consensus is?

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

MLM pipes are decent, the people's pipe is really nothing super hot, but it doesnt get enough credit for being just a great, flat power delivery pipe.

I wouldn't buy any of the circuit pipes, as rheyre just re-baffled and painted tecno pipes.

I'd I were in the market for a high performance pipe, I (personally) would look to the scooter market first. But if I wanted a nice bolt-on pipe for something, I'd go Cranks Pipe over MLM.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

Again I inquire as to where one can purchase a cranks pipe? Is it email order only? Is there a market place to browse pipes?

I have been mostly getting mlm pipes cuz Devin is a good dude, and I have never had any problems with their products.

I just talked to Ryan. one month lead time on making them and they start at $200

Thanks mark! I will consider this for future builds.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

I got a MLM Techno Circuit EDM pipe a few months ago and have had to weld it together a few times already. I really like the pipe itself, good take off and pretty good medium range, top speed with it was 47mph once down hill going full speed tuck and WOT. Average around 37 and can hit low 40's most of the time.

The baffle was pretty loose on the pipe and instead of being smart and getting a stronger spring I tried tack welding it on and now it keeps breaking at the baffle and have had to re-weld it like 3 times.

It also hit the peddles slightly and scraped some paint but that's not a major issue. The bigger issue was the belt hitting it when fully verriated (I can't figure out how to spell that) so I had to put a nice dent in the pipe to get it to clear the belt.

Peugeot 103, stock engine, Dellorto SHA 15, Malossi SHA 4 petal reed block, 74 jet, MLM Techno EDM Circuit Exhaust.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

I broke one also on my 103. Not mlm but simonini in same design. It last few months, weld it once and after it broke next time i trow it in garbage

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

I love MLM, rad dude, good stuff, so awesome that they make all this shit for this community, cool stuff you couldn't get otherwise.

performancewise the people's are pretty meh, but theyre easy

the big ones are great, so are the crankspipes, but most of the time i'm not in the market for high budget high performance or clean looking modest performance, I want bang for buck and they kinda straddle the 2 extremes.

I've had some crap from MLM, but most of their stuff is solidly built, some needs minor modification but it's mopeds, you HAVE to expect that.

The only issue I've had with the pipes is the side bleeds, the baffles and the support points where the baffle is connected to the chamber break off. this was like 5+ years ago tho so maybe they're better now.

I'd definitely recommend them but most of the time don't buy em...

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

Newman Ryno /

I swear most pipes have baffle problems falling off/breaking. I know that is the weakest point where it connects to the chamber, but why wouldn't the producer just put bigger more solid welds in those place or figure out a better support bracket or something. Seems to be a pipe problem for all brands for the most part

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

Every two stroke ever has pipe problems if the exhaust isn't mounted soft/semi soft. An exhaust with a slip fit flange and a spring mounted header with a silent block for the rear mount will last for ever.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

yea I think the side bleed was extra difficult, I mean picture the stresses on that stinger/baffle coming off the end of a cone where it's nicely supported continuously vs just trying to T right into the side of a plate, it's way more aggressive of a local stress and way more likely to peel open the chamber.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

My mlm Clubman bars are welded slightly off. Not enough that I care, but it looks like they just eyeballed them.

i've had a people's pipe (from when they were first announced-- bought from 1977mopeds, so 8 years ago?) and it's amazing. maybe because it was one of the first batches but it just works. slapped it on a hobbit with a polini and 55+ all day.

I purchased the MLM Techno EDM pipe from Treats a while back and just put it on yesterday. The pipe sounds pretty fucking cool and seems to work well with my Moby (Sha15, Le Partie, Airsal 74cc, 74 jet). Although, it definitely does not match up with the mounting bracket on my av7 - had to saw the pipe bracket and drill my own holes to get it on.

Only thing that sucks is the piece that connects the baffle to the rest of the pipe broke... Anyone know if I can use JB Weld for that shit or should I just go hit up my buddy to weld it? I mean, the answer is obvious but I guess i'm searching for validation lol.

Anyways, cool pipe but broke after one use. Zip tying the mounting bracket to my bike temporarily until I could get to the hardware store today for some mounting supplies is probably what caused it to break.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

Dirty30 Dillon /

Clean and weld, add a silentblock to the pipe to help with vibes at the long end

JB weld will not work well.

I’ve run an MLM Cali on a Puch 65 Metrakit and an MLM BK100 on a Puch 74 Gila with great success. Both are great pipes. Highly recommend both.

Never ran a Crank pipe but hear good things just like MLM. I wouldn’t be afraid to try a Crank pipe.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

I’ve run dos botana, techno circuit, proma circuit, proma gp, estoril radical sidebleed, mlm cali and soon to be cranks sidebleed and the estoril is hands down the best all around pipe for stock and mildly kitted e50. I love the lines of the mlm cali and the sound, but I later learned it was made for high reviving polini kits and it’s sucks on an e50 airsal 65, and I mean really sucks. The paint doesn’t last long either and yiu have to grind the flange to get it to fit. If someone made a pipe that looked like the mlm cali or homoet and ran like an estoril id get it in an instant. Maybe the smaller diameter mlm pipes would work better for my build. The sidebleeds look stupid but they work really well for a low 40s bike. The proma circuit is just too ridiculously loud for my taste and it’s feels less torquey than the estoril. I’ve yet to try the proma gp on a kitted bike. I’ll probably clean up one of my mlm calis and sell it.

What about the Dos Botana ? Ok for the sounds ? I am not looking for the hp gained tbh... mainly just for the sounds.

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

The Dos pipe actually sounds pretty good. Louder than the proma gp. Quieter than the mlm cali. Doesnt seem to be much low and mid on it in a stock pipe but looks good and solid quality and sound. Pedal clearance challenge

Re: Opinions MLM Pipes

If you want it quiet and have a slightly better than stock performance and also look stock-ish, I advise the MLM ninja pipe. It is basically the peoples pipe with a sheath over the cones to cive it a straight flat appearance. The quality is top for sure and it does give a little boost over stock.

I just tuned in a gila puch with vm20 and davinci and its absolutely wild, I love that pipe as much as a bk100, maybe more. Most of my experience with mlm previously was just bk100 and I always loved them, but end bleed not side bleed. Rode a gila magnum w side bleed that didn't impress me as much but believe it was the tune. Oh, I had a rev run way back when and it was rad on a treats reed with vm18. 55mph. People's pipes mostly suck.
