Repacking a proma baffle

I just got a proma for my Hobbit, and as I understand it the baffle that comes with it is packed pretty tight, which contributes the hellish volume of this pipe.

I've never repacked a baffle before, but my understanding is that it's pretty straight forward (pull out the tube in the middle, remove some of the batting, rewrap and shove it back in). I'm just not positive on how to open it up, so rather than bruting my way through it and risking breaking anything, I thought I'd ask you kind folks.

I attached a picture of each end - I'm guessing I need to remove the little circlip in the second picture? Do I just use some pliers to pull it out, or is there a certain technique to it?

Re: Repacking a proma baffle

yep, thats the way to do it. remove the circlip and it should slide out. you could try experimenting with different grades of steel wool or using an alternative material

What's the best way to get the circlip out?

Cir-clip/snap ring pliers usually work pretty good :

I’m not a fan of the blue tape but clear masking tape instead

Thanks a lot, the picture helped.

This is the first time I've ever worked on anything automotive, so I'm still learning what tools are for what and all that. I end up calling my dad to borrow things a lot hah
