EXHAUST CLEANING for a Puch Magnum Mk2

I’ve done some research and I’m pretty sure that I’d rather not stick it in a fire! Should I use bottle brushes w degreaser, is it ok to use a power washer at a car wash, does the end of the exhaust come off? It’s looking pretty crusty and I’d like to clean it so please help me out...

Lossen the front clamp and mount it'll slide off. Don't loose the rubber bootie! Loosen the nut at the end and the doodle will come off. Filler up with a couple spray cans of oven cleaner and wait 24hrs. The bring it to the carwash if you don't have a pressure washer and sprayer out.

Fire is great tho.

Which clamp?

Re: EXHAUST CLEANING for a Puch Magnum Mk2

There is only one clamp. The one that attaches it to the header pipe.

If not post pictures it might have a different pipe from a previous owner.

Remove the end cap by removing the 10 mm nut on the inside of it and bang it off with glancing blow’s at seam with a rubber mallet

You may have to heat it up a bit at the end because it may be stuck due to harden oil deposits then you can clean inside it

I'm a fan of the nuts and bolts on a wire shoved into a drill Chuck and let it rip

Re: EXHAUST CLEANING for a Puch Magnum Mk2

I did what I could and put it back on, the only thing is that when I put it back on it’s a little loose, it rattles, very little but I think it might be normal?

Looks like you lost the rubber bootie. You can make a new one with a silicone baking sheet from the dollar store. I've even used a bicycle inner tube on a pinch... Or post In buy/sell, I'm sure someone knows where to get one.

It’s not rubber it’s a asbestos gasket but I don’t like to try to put a new one even though you should be able find one on ebay because scraping off or grinding out the old one to get the new one to seat correctly is very dangerous. I just wrap aluminum foil around the header to make it tight/good seal

Slice up a beer can for shims

Layer pieces of paper gasket/alu

Clamp the piss out of it

Oil will soak paper and it will swell

No leak

Works as a carb shim when your bing falls off outside town

Ask me how I know

Also my favorite shim when your wrench is too big for a nut

Beer can shim inside socket too!

Convert your favorite standard wrench to metric with oneeasystep

You just have to drink the beer first
