Kitted ZA50 Shifting

This is my second ZA50

The first one (treats 50cc Kit) with a flipped 2nd had a very controllable shift point, little blip and release and it shifted.

This newer one (tccd 70cc kit) the shifting is way less controllable. I can rev 1st to the Moon and it doesn't drop into gear. I have to keep the revs kinda low and kinda roll off and usually it shifts. The point is I can't control it that well.

New pucks and flipped second, I plastigauged the end float when I put the pucks in and it was cool

Is this a high power kit thing or do I need to strip the trans and go poking around

Probably Fred /

You may have to look inside a few Rollers could be in wrong or something could be broke in there

Poked around this morning. Everything is kosher.

Put 0w-20 oil in it and it help a little but shifting still doesn't feel very controllable

Maybe not roff kosher but close enough

Re: Kitted ZA50 Shifting

You might just not be used to the revs you get in first with a larger kit. Wring it out a little!

That was my first thought, but 1st just revs and doesn't go any faster

Re: Kitted ZA50 Shifting

What's your gearing?

20 x 37 (smallest rear for a snowflake)

I had a 21 on the front but I couldn't really pull when 2nd dropped

Re: Kitted ZA50 Shifting

Kinda agree with Ken then... post pics of the rollers in the first speed gear?

you know what i just realized, the first and second gear shaft has some play in it. I can pull it away from the clutches some. I'm pretty sure that is normal but I don't know

And It does "go somewhere" in first, it just tops out very quickly (edited)

Re: Kitted ZA50 Shifting

somethins wrong.

That's what I'm starting to gather

Crisis averted, the techno circuit I had on there wasn't pulling into gear very well.

For shits and giggles I put a biturbo I had laying around night and day difference. I feel comfy putting a 21 on the front now for sure.

Time to buy a crank pipe?
