Iv never seen one that deep! These companies are really going the extra mile to cover there ass now

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

Popped it out! Gonna test it out tomorrow!

Also need to figure out how to dampen the vibrations from the engine. Right now it's just bolted to the frame and I feel like something is going to fail from all the vibrations

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

Jeezus. Glad that's over...

Sounds like both of my garelli bikes. And yes thing fail often due to vibrations. Man I probably lose at least one nut per ride off my magnum from vibration. I have been putting loctite on things that I replace from falling off due to vibration.

Holy shit you have no idea. I've been tearing out my hair chasing this down and just wanting to be able to ride this thing I've been building for a year.

If things always went smooth, we wouldn’t learn as much.

Appreciate the trials life throws at you. You are a better person for it.

Some can be educated but their education might not serve a purpose in the future

Only if they forget what they learned . ;)

Then They have not learned but hence remembered what they were taught

Took it for a ride!!! Such a blast, though it definitely could use a tune. Seemed to be running lean with a 190 jet in the vm20. Gonna get a short intake that goes to the side to compare them!

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

First rides on a long term builds are so cool.

When you have brought something new into the world and you can fucking ride it, there’s nothing like it

I can't stop smiling. Felt great to ride

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

Thoughts on paint colors? A few ideas for the frame I'm kicking around right now are:

black (classic black frame red tank Honda)

Silver (kinda weird but I love the look of the cimatti sagittario and noticed a lot of 60s bikes had silver frames)

Red (red frame, maybe red tank?)

Clear coat the frame and leave it as is?

I love Joe's colors but don't wanna copy them, haha

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

It's funny how fast a build can go from slamming your head into the wall just to make it work to picking aesthetics. Great bike dude keep it raw

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

Cut those fork springs down and finish the tank/seat first.

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

Colin Ratcliff /

Oh for sure. Gonna cut it down with the band saw today

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

Did you try the original intake?

Curious if the throttle response is delayed or not. Where’s the power come on now?

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

Looks good man. Glad it is moving for ya!

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

Colin Ratcliff /

Yeah this is with the original intake (because the short one wouldn't work with the rear transmission). Power comes on quite high it seems - though I can't tell for sure with the red springs. Might toss on the blue ones today (I don't have the yellow ones sadly) and run it to get a better idea.

It definitely had some running trouble - overheated, was fairly weak at super high rpms, and never felt SUPER powerful. I'm guessing those are a combination of:

1) needs to go more rich

2) might have an exhaust leak, sounded pretty loud

3) long intake

So once the short one comes in I'm gonna test 'em both out and see which way to go. Also need to get some bigger pilot jets for the Polini

Re: Crazy Custom Frame Hobbit

Don’t just cut the bottom of the tubes. You also need to shorten the spring to increase the spring rate and add a spacer to limit the travel so you don’t crash the front wheel into the triple tree.
