Re: 50/50

The fun is if you have the power to go and honest 50 or more then you just gear it for 45 miles an hour.

But the A35 cast iron reed cylinder is one of the best platforms to achieve speeds over 50 miles an hour.

If you can't go 50 on a 15 mm carburetor you're doing it wrong.

Re: 50/50

Ive got 50 covered. Tomos a35 49cc 1412 dellorto 60 jet no filter 26-20 expansion chamber.

This has me thinking..

I wonder what’s the smallest carb that’s done 50

I used a VM18 on the derbi and VM20 on the shifty

Nothin more to be said, oh no

Re: 50/50

Here is my honest to Satan 50 on 50, it took a ton of work

Linky to Garage build

And I still ride it all the time today, just re-geared for the city, I think I’m running 2hp gearing now, 16 (or maybe 14)x45

Re: 50/50

The hobbits have been known to do 50 with the stock carburetor that is only 12 m m

For posterity all i did was switch out my pipe to the rk replica and i hit 47.9. I think it can do more but i kept hitting red lights.

Full setup: derbi FR gila 50cc, stock head, amal 15mm w/ stock intake, stock 6 roller with 14.4gs and rumpus plate, yellow clutch springs, no starter shoes, HPI mini at 2mm BDTC, 16x38 gearing.

Prolly just gonna keep shooting for 50 and then give up and slap on a 65cc MK.

Re: 50/50

That's an awful fast set up so you've got a lot of tuning left to do on it may be a little cleanup on the ports and a better chamber cup and squish

Went heavier on the weights and hit 49.7 on the same route. I have a feeling there is a slight decline.

Re: 50/50

The closes I managed was on a tomos a35 stock jug with a 15 sha and a crazy hunter pipe. The cylinder I cleaned up the intake as those are always pretty rough on the a35, and widened the exhaust a good amount. I managed low to mid 40's and know I could have done some more by really opening the ports up and even the transfers and matching the case. But as other have said. Putting on a kit and hitting the higher speeds is easy and yields good results fast.

Re: 50/50

I’ve got a 60/60 does that count?

Thanks for the info. I can build something similar and see where i end up. The pipe is the RK replica that treats sells yeh?

Also since im noob, clutch springs have no bearing on top speed right? Just more of launch/take off and riding style?
