10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

Bruce Edwards /

I have a 2003 Kinetic TFR. I am putting a high flow air filter, a highly modded 12.12 stock Dellorto carburetor, a 43mm/65cc DR piston and sleeve kit and a Techno Circuit Exhaust. My engine tuner believes that he can get a solid 9 hp with his vast experience with building racing engines. What do you think?

Oh, I also added lightened clutch shoes.

Kinetic clutches are a fucking joke.

They'll snap off easily. Best to retrofit to a diff clutch.

And as far as 10hp, prob not unless you reed it in my opinion

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

^^^What's a "diff clutch?" And where do I get more information?

A different clutch.

Those arms are made of balsa wood

Maybe you could adapt a Ciao's clutch idk but idk if they're any better but I think so.

And honestly if you're trying to get all big dick power on this kinetic,

Modify the case half to add reeds and then put a big boy carb on it, like a 21-24mm carb.

Then you'll have some big power.

Though it's likely once the engine has that power it very well might eat itself (destroyed crank, rear gearbox, etc)

I don't know if Vespa Ciao aftermarket cranks swap in.

I'm not trying to make insane power on my TFR. I want reliable power off the line as not to be an annoyance to the cars behind me. 9 hp is fine.

9hp? Dude that’s like up there in moped world. I would be very very surprised to see you tune the engine to gain 700%

My tuner is confident that he can do 9 hp and i trust him. I have a Tomos A55 with a Airsal 70cc kit that he did. That easily is in the 11 hp range.

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

Hahahahahahaha 11hp tomos from a bolt on set up with no porting. Let’s see the dyno results.

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

Bruce Edwards /

^^^ my Tomos A55 is heavily modded.

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

Lol this is great.

I'm glad you'll settle for 9hp.

Whew..

Who's your "tuner" cuz it should be you. If you rely on someone to tune your bike you are in deep shit bucko

There is no way your tuner is pulling 9hp out of a Kinetic, and there's little chance you've got an 11hp Tomos.

2020 is the year of only claiming horsepower output with Dyno sheets.

I saw your chopper bicycle with the tomos engine. What's your top speed?

Obviously you have never heard of dirty30 Dillion. Let me tell you, this guy can tune the fuck out of anything that goes brappp. I’m not say he’s an expert but god dam his ass looks good at mach 10 (edited)

2020 is also the year of Rocco's Rebuttals

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

Please tell me what your guy did to get to make 11hp. I have to know. Even if it was to put down that kind of power it would shred the internals and the clutches surely would break into bits in short order.

It's got a 12:12

That's good for 12hp

Off the line power is tall gearing...

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

I got a unicorn and a bi turbo bolted right to its ass. I’m pulling a solid 12 horse power with a 12:10.

I really don't understand why so many guys are so negative. I'm surrounded by guys that simply make things happen.

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

And what you don't know is that your tuner lied to you.

Yes, they simply make you feel like you have an 11hp Tomos and going to get a 9hp TFR.

You are on a forum with people who do moped tuning all day long and when they are wondering about how your guys are making 11hp, you gotta be asking some questions. Are these guys members of this forum?

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

11hp tomos

Why is the chopper build in a hardware store?

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

You cant guesstimate hp dude...11hp?That's land speed record territory.

Hell, the buddfab speedster moped thingy went over 150mph with 10hp diddnt it.

Throwing out arbitrary numbers is a sure fire way to get roasted here.

Top speed numbers without video, big hp, etc.

unless you dyno the bike on multiple dynos since each one will have a pretty loose tolerance and results can be skewed + or - depending on the machines accuracy (edited)

It's 6.5 dammit.

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

Even that is a lie, you cant pull 6.5hp out of 120v AC.

Re: 10 hp from a Kinetic TFR moped?

Run it on nitromethane race fuel and you'll make 10 hp for about 2 seconds before the engine, clutch, belt, and trans all explode simultaneously.

Yeah, that's a misinformation on the part of the manu's. Claiming peak, stall HP is not at all relevant to the actual output. 1.5hp is about your safe limit on a 15A/110-120VAC circuit.
