Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Haha that's definitely one of the biggest things I've seen turned on one of those stupid lathes, good for you making it work. I bought one for 50 bucks and left it on the curb when I moved one time...

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

It wasn't the easiest thing to set up haha. So, this is an old Emco Compact 8 lathe. It's actually Austrian and it's what the Chinese company (Seig?) used to design there whole mini Lathe thing. Interesting to learn about though. Interestingly I bought this for $50 too!

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Oh that's rad, mine was the sub-HF quality no name china one, it was fully trash

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

What I found really cool was that they had an option from the factory with a vertical mill attachment. I ordered one from a guy but hasnt showed up yet. Looks like this:

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Glad to see youre still at it, and that you fixed that copper abomination. :)

I am super curious to see if the 16mm cranks can go the distance with this kit. Im honestly surprised the hobbit cranks do (it appears as some have ran this for awhile right?). Both are pretty long on the variator side and from what I know this kit should make almost double the power of a "normal" air cooled moped kit.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Got the milling attachment, learned sum stuff. Learned a lot actually just from making this one part so that was cool.

Finish ye disc brake wheel hub.

Got caliper bracket in the works.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Also started new radiator mounts. Gonna try something a lil different (i think?).

Someone mentioned this idea so thought I'd give it a go.

Lower mount pipe bending. Did the old sand packing and MAP torch trick. Also lathed a lil guy to help the sides not fold in. This will get tabs and bolt onto the frame. There are little threaded holes and I think I'll drill and tap em to m6x1.00 to hold this on.

Top mount will be modified version of steering stop. Since I put a spacer on my head tube the stock one no longer reaches anyways. Might reenforce it as well with a thicker piece on top. I dunno yet.

These are Peugeot or hobbit ebr hydros, same thing.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Yo flip that er3

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Been a minute!!

Mounted a faring, radiator, and been playing with a flipped variator.

I want to squeeze the variator in further cause it's near 10mm out further at full variation compare to normal.

I like that the mass is closer to the engine but the belt now has more leverage over the crank. I'm gonna experiment with a slimmer variator top to bring everything closer in and hopefully get better alignment.

MATTHEW MITCHELL /

I just read over this whole thread and my day has been lunch levered into pug bliss

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Have you already switched out the one way for an hfl3030? Actually I don’t know if that’s still a thing you can do with the new clutch pulley. It was a neat trick to get your pulley spaces outboard about 10mm.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

I presume this is held in with circlips on both side?

You could remove to right foot side circlip, push the pedal shaft thrue until the pully is line up, take some blue tape to mark where to make a new circlip groove and shim behind the pully! Boom bang boom

Pedals might look a lil weird

Wait, aren't you suppose to post a bunch of unrelated garbage??

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

On Peugeot flipping the variator with the malossi swingarm is a lot of work to get the chain line right. Using a 420 chain helps but you really should set your pulley up to float a bit, using thrust bearings and washers around the pulley and a compression spring on the other side to hold tension so it doesn’t flop around.

Only when I’m not high

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Been a minute, did some more tweaking to get things right.

Wanted to bring to Midwest gp but wasn't in the cards.

Got it running again, but water pump housing was cracked and leaking all over. Also was running hot so I better check my timing.

You really should be a bit more careful . You're gonna want that limb working right for a long time . ;)

I was wondering how that ER-86 was working for you, I just rebuilt mine with a few changes, fingers crossed it doesn't bend again

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

I need one of these in my life!!

Are there going to be more of those spacers made??
