Fanless Minarelli V1 Polini Kit Set Up.

I am trying to figure out an optimal system for running a Polini kit without a fan and with an air-cooled head (with doing a WC head as a backup idea). Is anyone running a reliable air-cooled, fanless Polini set up? Has anyone tried cross-cutting the fins on a Polini kit in an attempt to get better cooling? Thanks!

You can just run it without a fan. The fan on a V1 doesn't do a whole lot.

Angel loves to run without a fan

I love to run with a fan (it totally does quite a bit)

A good compromise is to use a metra 80 or Eurokit 80 head on it

.

Drops the head temps by about 50 degrees over the stock angled head

That is a good point about those bigger heads. I would need to run one of the square heads because of a forward-facing carburetor -- as the Puch head top fins would all have to be chopped off for it to work. I have a stock Fantic square head that I may try out at first.

use a BRN head, maybe create a small scoop near the base of the cylinder, it will be fine

The fan totally helps. My polini kit runs about 100 degrees cooler with it than without.

But highest temps I saw without a fan was 450 after some hot laps on the track.

The BRN or the TEAM Garelli heads are also super legit

I run the TEAM head on my longest lasting, most blastiest bike

I'm using a p-4 head . with the fan haven't tried without the fan .

If you have the polini, you might as well run the fan + a Garelli head. If you’re fan-less, check dos or treats. Literally no downsides besides having to pul it to adjust timing

Why would you not run a fan? I am a fan of the fan. I have a fanless V1 that I am going to put a Puch kit on.....but that is because it does have one.

It's for the three speed Minarelli (V3). No way to run a fan.

Thanks everyone. I'll try one of them slick BRN or Garelli heads. Will give a stock square head a whirl at first because it's all I've got laying around. Will check back with the progress.

they are the same head, just a bit more aggressive cut on the Garelli version

Re: Fanless Minarelli V1 Polini Kit Set Up.

I’m running a V1 Parma Kit on my FM470 3 speed with no fan. Haven’t taken it to a rally yet, but I’m confident after I road it in New Mexico for a long night ride.

Ohh also still rocking the oval head. Large rectangular head (spring 2020)

Let's do this.
