Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

Hey all,

Anyone have a pic / installation guide of their wiring setup for this? Ive done a ton of searching but have never found a concrete answer to this question. Most posts only list the parts and not the process. I have never done this before and I'd like to know what wires go where before I disconnect, remove, replace, and reconnect anything. Condenser is going bad on my Morini M1 and it's been suggested that I run the following in place of my stock setup.

Green Pietcard

2013 / 2041 CDI

Stock HT coil

Spark plug boot (or cable, but not both) with 5k Ohm resistor

CEV 6420 flywheel

Also heard that if I do this I would lose my brake lights. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm new to this aspect of mopeds so any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

I'd just replace the condenser if that's the known problem. With that being said what color wired and how many coming out of the stator?

I was planning to do the same but I noticed a lot of evidence of arcing across the points. I recently cleaned them and upon inspection the other day they now look black / burnt. I've also been told that the points and condenser are known to fail on Morini M1s often and I don't want to run into the problem in the future.

Here's a pic of the wires and flywheel for reference. Thanks!

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

Yep you'll loose brake light until you rewire it to work.

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

Brake light or running taillight too?

Just brake light. Tail light will still work along with head light

Gotcha. thanks for the heads up.

Hopefully someone will chime in and tell me where the Pietcards wires go

It's really self explanatory. I've done a few on garelli's. It'll be pretty much the same though. The box and green coil wires are color coded and the red wire from the box goes to the coil and the black is ground.

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

It's possible that you could have to slot the stator plate holes or remove magneto key to get timing right.

Yea I think it should work out well. I've heard that I would need to splice a wire into the kill switch but can't confirm this. Any ideas?

Hopefully I dont have to do all that too

Buy it and hook it up already! You're really over thinking it. Like WAY over thinking it...... I might have the parts you need. I'll check in a few.

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

I'll get better pic of needed

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

Thanks Stephen! I bit the bullet and ordered everything. Including the 2013 and 2041. Will try the 2013 out first and take it from there.

Will do!

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

Hi Stephen,

Got all the parts and about to hook this up. Do you know how I can wire everything so the brake light still works? I'm assuming I'd have to buy new brake light switches as well.

Thanks

Andrew

Yes you'll need new switches. At least I always use new switches. What ped are you working on?

Usually if the switches bases are made of metal I change them.

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

Everything currently works with the stock setup and original brake switches. Tail and brake light. Are you aware of what wires I need to tap / connect to get the brake light to work with the Pietcard? Is it as simple as getting the Normally Open brake switch if I currently have the Normally Closed variety or vice versa?

Thanks!

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

This is your wire diagram. Does it make any sense to you. You'll have to move a couple of wires around and add one if you understand how to read it. Let me know.

Re: Morini M1 Pietcard Wiring?

Hi Stephen,

I have a general understanding in the sense that I can easily trace the wires and figure out how it works, but unfortunately I am quite the novice when it comes to wiring in general. Any advice you can share would be great.

Thanks
