I still think beta blasters would be a sick contest/race. Peugeot are too well known, I think it should be something way more obscure.

Omg yes please! I would love that! We talked about spending your whole rally doing a build off with these bikes but we thought it would be more fun to hang with our friends! Hahah

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

I would be into any platform. We talked about doing a Sachs after this. But Betas would be cool. Neither of us really messed with PUGs before. That is why we thought it would be fun to do. (edited)

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Beta would be interesting. Sparta built Sachs, Jawa, Motom, Solo, or Benelli are pretty easy duplicates we could do of less popular brands. Definitely going to give this some thought. Might be a fun spring activity. Winner takes the bike home. Runner up gets raffled at Swoops rally.

Would be a awesome time.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

HELL YEAH! Not bad carrying a 300lbs rider..... I have to loose some weight and I'd be flying. Until then more tuning. (edited)

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Really! Damn dude that's impressive. For any bike really, my airsal Magnum was only hitting 40 with my equally sized ass.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Still creeping up there! More tuning to go.

Just cut up my old pipe and slapped the flange on my new one. Making slow progress. But hey progress is progress.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

So I needed more stall/slip

Nice, what did you do to it?

3 star springs, 3 1/2" ceramic balls, cut starter shoes down and lighten starter shoes from 46g to 42g. One-way bearing next. Oh and I'm using this clutch disc.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Gonna shatter that thing with 3 star springs.

Maybe, we'll see. It's not a daily so I'm not worried about that. The one-way bearing should be in next week so I can lighten up on the springs then. Actually I probably could do it now with the ceramic balls. And it actually slips like a jammer not bit like the stock clutch. (edited)

Here comes the pipe....man I wish I did not hack the header off of the other pipe. Oh well love N learn. Finally got this one all weldered up. Took a minute to get the back bracket right. I though I was lined up when I was tacking it on and I was not....burned a hole right through. No biggie. Fixed that up and got her going. I ran it with the regular flat style cap on the back. It did not like it much at all. Was super slow. Popped a screw in the one outlet of the cap from the other pipe and blamo it was blasting. However it had a rich bog all over the place. It was acting a touch rich before but it seemed worse now. I came back to the house and bumped the wiring with my foot and it died. Turns out there is a short somewhere in the wire loom coming from the stator. At first I thought it was the wire coming from the CDI to the HT coil but it is not.

I’ll have to dig into wiring and then back to messing with the pipe.

Oh and I am running 3 springs and 6 Ceramic balls. Seems to take off decent.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Oh and I almost forgot. Stephen has me for now. I was only at 32. I only did a speed Run for a block before it foot too bad to keep going. Hope to sort out the wiring and see what she does. After this step we are going to moped GP rules for stock class. Who knows how long until we get there. These stock parts have me begging for a pipe and 15 PHBG. I am second guessing doing aux ports on the exhaust.

Once I get the wiring figured out I am going to try stock single stage reeds. I think the Tomos reed block is swelling and not opening the second stage. But this is all speculation.

A block? MAN you gotta stretch that thing out with the stock pipe to get any speed out of it! Mine pulls in stages. It'll pull to 34 easy and stop, then it'll pull to 38 and stop then it'll pull to 40. It won't just pull straight to 40.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Oh ya for sure. I’ll stretch it out after I figure out this wiring issue. Hahah. I need to find some time to mess with it more. Kinda slammed the next few days.

Bummer town....none of these pullers I have work. I need to order the right puller. Guess I’ll work on something else tonight.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Thanks to Ed there is about to be some major rippage/or breakage going on! Got hubs machined for one way bearings ( I had two done since he agreed to do them for me), bearing installed in one and bushing made.

Disclaimer: Ed did this according to my measurements and what I asked him to do. If anything goes wrong it had nothing to do with what he did.

Now to take the clutch back apart and redo everything without starter shoes. Maybe now I won't have to stall it quite as high? Who knows what I'll do?.....

I did find some stock so I can cut my own bushings.

Love it, the bars look comfy. I use Anaerobic gasket maker on the gaskets. Costs a lot more and I gotta ask the guy at Oreilly to sell me the biG tube from behind the counter. AnAerobic - no air

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

One-way bearing is in! Needs a little more playing with but it works?

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Anybody wanna go on a short ride with me?

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

awesomeness

we did try to do a beta buildoff, but no limits really. That was the one I put the peugeot kit on. (it did work... but not for very long)

now though theyre all probably way too far gone.

The rattier the better!

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

We are planning a thing for a rally this summer when everyone has to bring an unfinished project bike and slammerjam it together. Seems like we all have one of those bikes that could probably be done in 3 hours with zero fucks but you've been sweating stupid small details for 2 yes and not got it done
