Gotta love it! Fix one problem just to create another.....

There’s a hole in it. ;)

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Why not relieve the piston head at the ports and use a much thinner spacer ?

Then just take a bit off the head mating surface .

Might not be perfect , but , it would be a lot less hassle and likely cheaper to boot .

To machine the top of the cylinder? $50

All considered , not too bad .

beats going at it with a plate of thick glass and some sand paper

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Damn. That is why I just modified the piston crown. I don’t have a machine shop on speed dial!

Matt just got back to town. I need to go pick up the pipe. He also has a stock reed block wish he had a spare single speed clutch to modify. Last night Stephen and I had some ideas.....

U can anneal the spacer with a candle and torch.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

So while waiting for my cylinder to come back I was looking at my front forks. They are pretty much screwed! They keep locking up and when I tried to to take them apart so I could attend to clean them up stuff started breaking plus the tubes are slightly bent.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Sooooooo I went digging in my parts stash again. I'm probably going to need some different bars but it's all I had at the moment.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

My wire harness was chopped up and "I" singed it when I was fixing the tank so I'm going to extend it and fix where I singed it at.

Just watching this. Thanks!

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

So I swapped from a 2.5mm base spacer with gaskets to a 2mm bases spacer with copper spray. The cylinder being decked make it look almost perfect!

Yes sir! I keep a can on the back shelf in the corner for emergencies like this ;)

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

So I added pedals, crank arms, a old head light I had laying around and a lunch box to the rear of my seat to hold a half of a bologna sandwich and a nip for the winter days ahead.

Brandon Weiss (Detective brandon to you) /

Nice. I think hondabond/threebond/motoseal would have been a better choice for the base, just because of the nature of the surface vs the head/cylinder joint. You have the 2 case halves which can be misaligned/non-coplanar ever so slightly, and the cross section of the center gasket too, which the hondabond would probably fill in better.

I'm eager to see this thing run

Possibly. I only had copper spray on hand so I tried it. Either way I'm going to have to use some kinda sealed on it. Luckly it doesn't swing from the head like MBK.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

So since I'm going to be running side covers and a thumb lever is already there I drilled/tapped my carb and added a choke.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

But , won't two different rear shocks make you go 'round in circles ? LOL

And , you'll likely be thankful you did the slick choke thing , too . ;)

LOL, it hasn't yet. I noticed that today and haven't decided when I'm going to change them.

I know I will. It starts easily without the choke but keep shutting off at throttle response it terrible until she warms up.

Re: Buzzards vs Barons Vogue Single Speed Build Off

Next time yall have to do this in 8 hours at the warehouse using only tools provided. Michael will film it. Itll be like Junkyard Wars. I'll plant rotary tools and cheater stock parts in the mix of junkers.
