If stock, notched is fun or you can do a stock 6 roller for more weight options. I have a few stock euro 6 roller variators kicking around if that's more your speed. If you have a stock crankshaft, its definitely better option.

Sounds like you need to install a set of malossi gears for a taller final drive gear range.

I made one, and frankly have been worried to put it on anything because its probably so big I'll break a crank in no time.

You can't go much higher because of the fixed cheek on the clutch bell.. You gonna go above that?

Even if you cut the vari you can't go much higher than the bell allows.
then not to mention probably not varoating enough in the rear pulley.
If the front pulley goes farther than the rear it fucks up the crank and bearings.
A cut TJT is about as high as you can go.
Are you referring to cutting the back side of the tjt so it will open further for the belt to sit deeper?
Not suggested if you're running a thin belt.
But you should definitely modify the rear pulley so it has more Gering range so you don't stress our break the crankshaft.
If you don't do this you're going to have to run the belt loose

If you're using a thinner belt after this mod no big deal. Just add fiber washers between the ramp plate and vari
But to get the belt higher you have to cut the tjts pulley face to be more steep. I went as far as possible and a lil too far recently, making holes. I'm gonna fix it with that zinc brazing rods and recut the cheek.
Yes the stock combined and pulley cheek angle is 28 degrees.
And what I need is a 30 degree angle belt but nobody seems to make one without it being at least 17 mm wide.
I need a 15/16 max mm wide belt with a 30 degree combined angle.
The AX BX series belts happened to be 36 degree's so you lose a lot of power due to friction
Belt angle doesn't mean shit.
I cut variators to steeper angles all the time and I've had zero problems. Belts are malleable

I had thoughts of making a custom rear pulley with more travel, so I made the biggest variator I could. using this to its full variation will require me to weld up the clutch bell and machine the edge sharp. Then make a rear pulley with more travel.
I will warn you,
It can be done, but it also can warp really really bad if you get it too hot.
Most likely you could true it up mostly in the bell and on the cheek, but in my experience it's awfully dicey at high rpm unless you have crazy good welding skills.
Its a much easier and better way to add race gears. Then when you get to the top of the range you're about as far as you could go.
Do you happen to know if the Derbi bells are any larger OD? I see treatland just added some to the site.
I've successfully cut the fixed cheek pulley at a more extreme angle and it works really well. I pushed back the base at the boss like 4mm.
Helps it variate much faster if you have the power.
Derbi bells are cast.
Not so great.
I just put a whole scooter transmission on them.
