How big is too big?!?!

I have a set of e50 cases cut and welded for a gila, but I want to use a puch hero kit I have laying. My question is, will there be a problem if the cases are bored out for the gila and have like a small gap or so between the hero cylinder skirt and the cases? Mocking it up, it ll seal fine since there was material added to the cases, but Im wondering if the gap between the cylinder will be fine. They only dumb thing I can think of is over time it ll trap gas or something, or it ll add more case volume or will cause something I cant even think of. It could even do nothing, i dont know. Should I just run it, or no.....

Re: How big is too big?!?!

Hero transfers are bigger than gilas. They go almost to the stud top and bottom. Match the cyl to the cases or the cases to the cyl.

Keep in mind moped transfers are a fucking joke, even gilas.

Go as far out as you can, hogging shit out will get you everywhere with big kits.

If you do port the heros exhaust,

Just be sure to move the piston locating pins towards the intake side so you don't snag. Stupid design putting the ring gaps so close to the exhaust(edited)

Hell yea! That’s some very useful info! So I shouldn’t worry about the gap between the skirt and the cases?

Re: How big is too big?!?!

No just make sure it's centered. Maybe put some bushings on the studs to help hold it center would help. Other than that good to go

hell yea! thats what i like to hear! thanks

Centering bushings are a great idea. I would only worry about increasing your case volume via that open area.

yea thats what im wondering about.

Re: How big is too big?!?!

On a 65cc+ kit it takes sooooo much hogging out to have any issues with case volume.

I've only had that issue once and it was with a very ported 50cc.

You would benefit greatly tho from reeding the hero. It wakes that kit up

People have done that? It's such a wacky intake bolt pattern. SHOW ME PROOF

but really, The transfers on my hero are super huge. It's a great kit with tons of torque. Go big or go home mulatto. Just hot glue the holes closed when you poke through the case ^__^

Re: How big is too big?!?!

Any pp bike can be Reeded.

I reeded my hero awhile back.

Way better. Look it up.

Just have to make or modify a reed adaptor.

Re: How big is too big?!?!

My hero is reeded

Re: How big is too big?!?!

Yeah look at Jbot's derbi reed thread in performance right now. I just put some reed adapter links in there too. Idunno how it'd do with the 3 bolt hero intake but maybe it doesn't matter or works on 2. not a big hurdle either way

A normal sized Puch intake will fit a hero with two holes. It’ll just be a little cockeyed. IIRC

Re: How big is too big?!?!

Make sure you do some port work that hero, I just built one that blows the doors off of a Metra 80. They take a lot of cleaning up and have very mild durations, it is very worth it to spend an hour or two with a Dremel and some files.
