Rigid frame exhaust mounting

I'm in the middle of a long distance restoration of a rigid frame puch maxi. Early eighties maybe.

Does anyone know if the exhaust mounting points are the same on the hardtails as they are on the suspension models?

There is no suggestion that exhausts are suitable for a specific frame type when you buy them online.

The exhaust is a tecnigas next

Nope, the Normal Mount goes from the Pedal Shaft about 10cm back, the Hardtail one has it mounted on the Rear "Swing"arm

Some kind of custom bracket might have to be fabricated.

Should be exactly the same, but you may have to modify the bracket in some way. Not a big fan of the tecnigas next next thought. The Techno Estoril is way better. But it really depends on the setup. If your doing the stock kit I like the Techno circuit the best.

I heard the circuit is loud and prone to corrosion. Using a 15mm bing with the next the rest is stock. For now anyway. (edited)

Looked at every google image I could find. Can't see a rigid frame with a next.

Maxi-N with next exhaust

There is a little z shaped bracket that bolts to the swing arm and then to the pipe.

I managed to figure it out. All I had to do was take the entire rigid frame and swap it for a suspension model. The exhaust now fits perfectly. Simple...

Seriously though the aftermarket exhausts all seem to be made with the mounting point positioned for the suspension model. Its hard when buying online from Europe to know this as the information supplied is vague at best.

The mounting point on the rigid frames is on the chain stay. There seems to be one drilled and one semi drilled but neither are close to the ones on the techno exhaust.

The z shaped bracket only works for re-mounting the stock exhaust on the rigid frame.

A lesson learned for me. I'll post a pic when its done

A strip of stainless steel sorted mine nicely.....
