I've been thinking about this stop point shifting.....

Just a simple bar with cutouts and a spring would do it. Curious how it would respond. Downshift would happen with the left foot lever, upshift I don't know yet.

Gotta figure out a cool way to do it, then find a tune for it(edited)

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

What if you did a through out bearing and a clutch fork like in a manual car transmission. You could get rid of the weights all together and made it a manual shift bike. You could apply pressure to push the movable front cheeks together and hold it in any gear you want.

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

Yeah, lets start everything over and disregard all the work Ive done.:/

No. I don't push on weak parts going 10k revolutions a minute. It's a bad idea.

It's just going to build a ratcheting stop setup with the system already established

Food fer though

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

I'm gonna do rotary converted to linear action. So a straight saw pattern, which will allow downshifting (via my foot lever) without its "clutch", but upshifting needs a single clutch pull to allow the next tooth/gear to seat in. Hope this works cool, something to try..... it's good know that no one has ever been stupid enough to do this shit. But I'm a dreamer baby. With a heart of gold, I had to run away high, so I wouldn't come home low.....

Though your drawing is perfect and amazing like mine, I don't quite get it

Reds are pivots.

Yellow is the fixed pawl that you showed in your diagram.

Black line represents a pivoting pawl, and the blue dots are stops to limit the pivoting pawls travel. The pawl is held to the left with a spring.

The pivoting pawl is attached to the shift arm. The shift arm is free to pivot at the left, and would be sprung downward(not pictured).

Starting in the rest position (the lower drawing), as the shift arm is raised at it's right side, the pivoting pawl will lift the rack up off of the fixed pawl, at which point the pivoting pawl will move to the right and stop on it's stop, allowing the rack to only move right almost one full tooth.

When the shift arm is left back down, the rack will rest on the fixed pawl just before the next tooth, and as the shift arm continues downward, the pivoting pawl will be pulled out of it's rack tooth and it's spring will re-set the pawl for the next shift.

Part shapes are just to explain the function.

I have a few ideas on some simple construction to keep the teeth in line with each other so they aren't dependant on tight pivots to prevent the teeth from splaying off to the side of each other.

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

I think I'm going to do the half circles actually and a matching round bar lock. Then just use the clutch lever to lift the arm. Foot and roller choice will be used to control direction of shift.

Then I'll get a good lil clunk with each shift. I like this more. Shits gonna get weird

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

Basically , a motorcycle shift drum cam , only lineal . Neat .

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

Rats,,the area I want to do it in has too little travel.

Only about 1/2in.

I'll have to rethink this

So what you want is a parking brake foot lever off of a car it has everything you need.

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

Added some new gates top cog belts and a super secret part from treatland (which is fucking awesome) and this shit is done.

Just want to do more porting on this to make it a real ripper..

But the manual control is dialed in and kicking ass..

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

Just found out the secret treats part isn't so secret.

If you like fast hobbits this is the bomb, solves the biggest hobbit problem (overvariation) without requiring stronger springs.

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

Went back to this for some more tuning. I required a stronger rear spring because with the 2 belts resisting the weak spring at low gearing the belt would slip easily in the back pulley delaying my off the line launch. I was using the weakest spring I had, now up to the 2nd or 3rd weakest. Didn't have to change rollers. Much more secure tight belts at launch.

As well, I upped the clutch stall a bit and now the bike is finally zippy as fuck. Most fun bike I have now.

I wish everyone could try this shit.

I wish everyone could try this shit.

I wish most of the stuff you post was for sale at treats, since I don't have a lathe/mill/welding gear and experience. well, I did take metal shop in high school, but that was in 1990.

I’d like to make one!

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

I'm going to add one to my 50cc ripper hobbit, will try to make a design that is simple and maybe the brackets and spacers/foot lever could be made for sale if its a gooder

Right oN, I have been building a pile of contraption parts for this. I might as well take a look see if it’s enuff shit since ur having another go round. Thanks a million for this r and d !

Got rid of all the shit, I’m down to 2 drawers ;) hahaaa!! I’m ready(edited)

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

Just be sure to add a variation brake to the swinging assembly. That's the most fun. At any point in the range just lock the variation and see how high you can go in rpm, then dump it. LAUNCHy!!!!!!

HAHA people cant even put a 15 bing on their stock maxi without blowing it. I wanna see what happens when you order a 'JBOT launch lever setup' and you get a box of 7 pieces of scrap metal, some junkyard pullies and a handfull of hardware store bolts.

Re: New dual variated launch lever, brought to you by Crazy Wayne and Jbot

Whaaaattttttt, this is so rad! Would like to see a video of it in motion.
