Will changing exhaust give a moped more power?

1980 Tomos Bullet. A3 engine and stock carboration

Is there a better exhaust, other than stock, that will give it a bit more power without having to do any upgrades to the engine?

Yes, although you will at least need to upjet your carburetor and possibly upgrade the air filter to support it.

A tecno bullet pipe is a great option and is inexpensive.

What carburetor is on the bike?

What pipe and jet have people had success with?

Check this one of many threads out. Use the search function at the bottom of the page. Do some research. Lots of options out there. You have to decide what would be best for your bike and what you want to get out of it.

just do it, spill the beans its worth it.

I would definitely switch out the Encarwi carb for a 14/12 or 15/15 SHA, and an intake to match so you dont have to drop the engine every time you want to take the carb off.

Re: Will changing exhaust give a moped more power?

that encarwi is a bitch for sure. a pipe will help you regardless, you will need to upjet accordingly. it's about the easiest most satisfying upgrade, a better pipe. then it's on, you realize all the other things you can do, and armed with this newfound confidence in your mechanical aptitude you're kitting and carbing and ripping dicks on all kindsa bikes.

Has any one kept the encarwi in there? I curious what jet you ended up with.

Re: Will changing exhaust give a moped more power?

you don't really need to re-jet the encarwis on a stock A35 tomos for a pipe, but they are like the easiest carb in the world to re-jet.

52 or 54 will do it. some a3's were stock with a 52.

Re: Will changing exhaust give a moped more power?

my 76 Tomos had an Estoril exhaust with an Encarwi carb jetted at 53......if you upjet the Encarwi, use Bing jets

also changing your gearing to 27x22 will also help with top end speed

Did they cover how to calculate horsepower from youtube videos in your cylinder spacing doctorate program or did you double major?
