Whoops! I was digging thru looking at things an realize that I hacked up an old Urban Express clutch.

I found this other one made of baby Swiss. First I shit canned the springs and cut both ends of the arms. Then sawLed it long ways. Drilled the spring holes then shaved it down to the spring tab thickness.

I finished the clutch apex, welded a couple hardened steel sleeve in then drilled and tapped. 1 hour per hole. I had the metabo on hand to sharpen the bit about 20 times but it all went thru and is threaded with the 4mm set screws.

The stock hobbit arms weigh 54g. A lot lighter than the urban, prolly cuz its on the crank.

Purged and bled the brake. Cleaned it up as good with a fine wire wheel. The double piston caliper was covered in a black rubbery coating, looked like liquid electric tape painted on half of the outside surface. Scrubbed that crap off. I’ll prolly spray a little clear across it to hold off the rust.

The 12mm axle is ready, had to run a dye to extend the threads up the rod an inch or so. A lot better than the dumb 10mm axle concoction that came with it.

Heck yeah, I guessed to advance the stator 45*, right on the money.

Took it apart and drilled holes to hold the stator in the new position.

I bolted it back onto the subframe, hookt up a fuel bottle and took it outside. The engine fired up after putting my hand over the carb. Sounds fine, the largest jet I have on hand is an OKO 138, :/ CooL!

The carb had a 102 jet, it’s starting great and running with a 126. Without the damn pipe hahaa! Almost finished the pipe tho won’t be long.

Very curious how that clutch will work. When I tried a rear clutch on a crank and it acted like shit due to the arm weight.

But you are smarter will probably make it work by sheer force of will.

Yeah the clutch should be interesting. I hope it don’t snap after mauling 80g off each arm. I drawed the line where I thought it it could skinny up and made sections to copy the amount to each arm. Using the scale to check them I wrote down the weight of each area removed until the total arm was 54g and shaped more hobbitish. Mabe that’s what the issue was with the scoot arms, too heavy being directly on the crank as opposed to the way it is on a scoot. The front vario and flywheel momentum with the belt, rear pulley and clutch weight prolly requires heavy arms. I’m guessing..

This ol’Tecumseh magneto had a huge flywheel for jamming snow. like 6-7” I thunk

The wheels alright, a few bolts for the forks and take a looksee at the brace length for the ride height stuff.
