stock moby porting...again

i'm rebuilding my 50v...not kitting

stock everything except for a 14mm clone carb and 15mm shorty intake...

i've read and re-read the right way to port a moby stocker...

my question is...

can i choose to port the exhaust only (since my carb falls in the accepatble limit for the intake - 14mm) and then cut the piston skirt in an arc?

i really don't want to lose any low end...thx!

also, i have the stock cashew exhaust...is there a way to de-restrict it?

it has the straight pipe that slides to the front of the exhaust.

Re: stock moby porting...again

thx! yeah i saw that...everything is easy except removing the outlet tube and welding a new one in there...lol

might open the baffle plates some...

what i really need to know is if just raising the exhaust a smidge and cutting the piston skirt in an arc for a smoother transition would be help or hurt the low end...

My understanding is that as you mod to get more top speed, you loose low end and vice-versa. Somebody wiser will chime in I'm sure to set the record straight.

That said, I did exactly what you are proposing, and I liked the results. Felt like I did loose a tiny bit off the line, not bad though. Top speed went to 30ish. Small gains can be had modding the clutch. (edited)
