Derbi won't idle unless choke is on

I have a pyramid derbi. I upgraded to a 16.16 sha and carbon reeds. Stock everything else. I enlarged the stock intake for the new carb.

After I made these changes my bike doesn't idle unless the choke is on. Runs okay with full throttle, but if I ease up it wants to cut out unless I put the choke back on.

I've tried jetting at 76 and 79, but I don't think it is the jetting.

Could the carbon reeds be causing this? I replaced the stock metals ones.

I am hitting around 30 right now.

Maybe my exhaust is limiting me? It is stock.

I am new to the derbi/variator world!

Air leak at the intake, did you use sealant?

It's the jetting and or the limitation of 16.16 non needle, non idle jet carb. Even if you fix your air leak it's still limited because the bore is too big for no needle or idle jet.

How fast was it with the 12mm carb? Put it back on and see if it idles.

my pyramid reed derbi runs 40 all day long, all stock except upgraded to cdi and hi flow air filter and jetted accordingly. sounds like a jetting issue....

Air leak

Re: Derbi won't idle unless choke is on

It was an airleak.

Runs much better now at idle.

Tops out at 36, I think I am a little rich though. Thanks!!
