Magnum Upgrades

Just bought a Magnum MKII. It runs well and is in decent shape. Just wondering what my first performance upgrades should be, and what kits/parts you'd recommend. I have about $500 to spend on improvements.

Re: Magnum Upgrades

A kstar 70 or treats reed kit, an estoril, and a 19 phbg and a temp gauge is a good place to start if you are dead set on kitting it. Listen to everything Ken Roff says about timing and read between the insults from crazy Wayne. Search search search and read read read the past posts in the forum. Make sure your bearings and seals are good. Wheel bearings, brakes, chain, too.

Re: Magnum Upgrades

Oh yeah, and sprockets, and an air filter.

Re: Magnum Upgrades

Order of what ti do...

LEARN FIRST AND FOREMOST HOW YOUR BIKE WORKS! NO KITS, NO AFTERMARKET PARTS. MAKE IT RUN STOCK AND MAKE SURE ITS RUNNING STRONG AND NOTHING ANYWHERE IS WRONG.

As far tuning...

1 - timing!!!

2 - jetting!!!

^ If not done properly you'll blow up whatever you put on it and waste all your money and time.

As far as performance options though, Puch is one of the leading names in mopeds: both factory tuned and high performance tuning. The parts availability is immense...similiar to that of the 90s era Honda.

Unless you know what you're doing and comfortable with your tuning/troubleshooting skills don't kit it right off the bat. Start with the simple things... carb, air system and exhaust. From there you can then learn how to jet and time when things are switched up. Get that down THEN go for the kits and big boy stuff.

Biggest thing at all though... is search before you post!!! Use the wiki as much as possible; it may not be the easiest to navigate but youll find 90% of what you need in there. If you cant find it there, search the forums, then ask. But nearly 99% of the time the question you cant have answered through reading is either not known or you can find on your own by getting your hands dirty.
