What moped?

Vespa, but anything that takes 16x13 really. I've tried a few different kinds and only the Leos are 16mm+. I can start the (kitted) bike easily, even with an 'A' type belt (not that I run one other than to polish up the pulleys if the bike sits and they start to get rusty). (edited)

That's what I assumed. If these weights work for you then that's great, but you really should get the malossi belt.

Re: Cheap belts slipping in Your fancy Malossi Variator?

I have malossi belts (see who made/edits the vespa belts wiki and put the pic in there). I just like to use the sub-$10 A belts to take the rust off my pulleys in the spring (in stead of shredding expensive belts), and usually run the AX36s to save some money over the malossi, almost as good, could shave the teeth a bit, but it flexes fine.

Another benefit of using oversize weights is they push the ramps together more at full variation.

peace,
