I always wanted to know who has the fastest moped GPS on video not just saying it
I know on the Tomos forums years ago I saw one moped do like 60mph but never seen anything else again
Is there a charts that say who's the fastest just wanted to know

Pete from QueenCityRockers and Dusty from WhiteLineRiders have bonkers fast A35s well over 60mph
yea, dusty's 1st a35 killed it at the detroit thunderdrome races a few years ago I think, that's a polini'd a35 over 60
did a second one too on the batomos with a55
mattology had a polini one going 60 and a gila'd a35 almost 65.
one of the casselols had a crazy quick one too I think
Any videos on these bikes
not possible
once you hit the sonic its a warp in the time
video footage non transmittable:(
matts gila tomos
my tomos hits 55 on 64cc,
go to ATL next weekend and see for yerself.
Jeremy's Husk new a35 64cc masterport
SHIPPED!!!

good luck breaking sonic barrier:)
i like your 'glory hole' but keith bright is comin' after you for patent infringement.
bump for keith bright (edited)
mine goes faster than yours.
Thanks everyone!
I built a polini a35 bike running treats za50 cdi that went 64, and gilarini went 68 on e85 with a 31 tooth. The lower egt of the e85 meant the pipe hit lower, and the gila took advantage of it with a big torque hit that the 31 tooth helped greatly. On 100 octane it went as you said, between 64 and 65 most times I speed tested it with the *highly accurate lol* gps. Whereas the polini did this at over 12000 rpm, gilarini struggled to 11
Dustys build was very quick off the line, he had a KTM clutch in it, he would have got first in the race but there were so many wrecks in the race they had to restart it several times. Derbi/flat slide beat him, go figure. A lot of tuning in that clutch to get it right. Black Mamba ftw
Here's my moped speed run
Moped did 48mph gps
I still need to get a good GPS run on my bike, but Im waiting for Walt to release the A35 hammer. One of the last pieces of the puzzle on my bike. Last GPS was @45mph, 24:28 gearing (yeah, you read it right), hitting 12Krpm-ish. I think once I get the hammer, Ill gear it out and find a good, flat road to do a run on.
Edit: forgot to mention that this is with a ported stock a35 top end. (edited)
nice to see mattology back cuz if i'm not mistaken you're not into the moped thing anymore - mostly due to failed clutches. just today read some guys utilizing a puch clutch on an a35 with. so far. good results.
Look at the dates...
i hear from matt sometimes, he's been on small shifty 2 strokes laately
I've got a Gila'd Tomos A35 going 65mph with all kinds of clutch and transmission problems.
Gila ports were only cleaned up and matched (not ported... yet), Mikuni 24mm carb, Malossi carbon reeds, hpi mini rotor, and a custom pipe modeled after a Doppler. Its a fresh build thats still in progress, not properly tuned yet.
The ped has 31x20 gearing, 17" wheels, and 2.75" tires that make for a taller final drive than most Tomos' can achieve. Martys gearing calculator tells me at 65mph I'm only around 9,000rpm. Previously, with 31x28 gearing on the same bike I hit 58mph, the gearing calculator tells me I was hitting about 11,500rpm for that run. In theory, if I could hit that same rpm with the current gearing, I would be going over 80mph. I'm realistic and hoping for 70mph+ once I can get everything tuned and working well.
The speed runs are really only for shits and giggles, this ped is mostly conceived as a race bike and will normally not have as tall of gearing. I've searched around MA (including this thread) and the fastest I can find anyone has claimed on a Tomos is Mattology doing 68mph on his Gilarini. So I figure 70+ is a good marker for possibly having the fastest Tomos in America. If anyone knows different, let us know!
^ beautiful work one the pipe!
Yea, we've got a Gila a55 that's waiting on walt to make clutches. One day we will truly gps it. I built another gila A55 years ago that would do low 60's and never seemed to destroy the clutches but I had very expensive special clutches built. Owell.
any kind of fairing would help you break 70. Something to tuck your head behind and your legs. We're talking +3mph right there. haha
Nothing I like better than touching my knees to my shoulders on a moped
A better metric is to see the power curve on a graph. That will show whether its a 500 RPM 'bump', or a nice broad curve where the acceleration is strong at all speeds.
With a stock 1978 A3 and careful tuning I got better than stock acceleration all the way to 45 MPH. The only things that were altered were carb, intake manifold, sprockets, clutch springs, and a wee bit off the exhaust baffle. Kits are overrated and $$$.
Naked 45 MPH requires at least 4 HP and speeds beyond that are best achieved through aerodynamics.
Here is the race video that features Dusty's Black Mamba. Skip to 2:23 for the race start. He takes the lead pretty much right away(red+blk wheels). In case embed doesn't work, link:
Easily one of the fastest mopeds I've ever ridden to date. He never really geared it for top speed, but for crazy acceleration. You never wanted to flip the throttle back from a dead stop, I mean you did, but it would 12 o'clock like no other! iirc he told me it was setup to top out at 63mph, but it freaking ripped the whole way.
Edit: I hate typos. (edited)

DAMN! How do you get it to top out at 63 and still accelerate that fast? Once some parts show up from treats I'm going to have a 50cc A35 ripping up to 35 quite fast. Gearing it 1:1 with a yellow spring in first and blue in second for some mad wheelie power
my shock a35 hit 50mph all the time now i just installed the alukit party 70cc from treats hope it gets up in the 60's anyone know what jets will get this kit to run well can't go over 30 than it bogs and bogs and wants to die at dead stop when i give it full throttle running a Mikuni 20mm vm round slide need help!
