70cc Athena reed kit cylinder ^ not a mystery

I wouldn't run it but you can enjoy

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

I found the brand on it, its eurocilindro, which is now indeed athena. But what problems could running without one (or both) skirts cause?

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

Probably Fred /

Excessive piston wear/binding and boom.

I don't like being stuck several miles from my house so I like a perfect engine but for a backyard rat dirtped that's cobbled together a half ass engine/kit may be okay.

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

I've run kits skirtless, it's fine. Just way more intake noise, I ported one of the dmp knock offs of the ajh that broke the skirt and it was just as fast as my Gila, didn't get over 350* at almost 60 blasting for miles.

I'm getting one! Is the angled kit better than the flat port? Or vice versa?

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

Probably Fred /

It depends what pipe you have laying around to use

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

Charles Cole (OFMC) /

If you had both types, would it depend more on which Moped?

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

Probably Fred /

Well it depends on carb size/pipe combo then.

Big carb, big pipe fits better on big frame

I got the angled one. Came in 2 days from Treats. Looks like a 60+ kit with just normal touch up stuff you'd have to with any kit. Over all quality was better than I expected. I think it's going to be a ripper.

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

i was gunna ask the same thing, i bet the piston wears out quickly.

Well almost a year later & not much action on this amazing kit. Figured it would be an active thread for a long time. Who's done what?

Installing mine soon, whats the consensus on base spacing? I'd like to get stuff ordered before the sale is over.

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

Nice topic, fun to see what i did exactly one year ago.

Still waiting for pics of seized kits.

Where are you guys setting your timing? 3mm btdc with hpi?

This kit jams on a minarelli v1

Pretty good on a kickstart tomos too

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

Do the cases need to be welded on an A55? What about the clearance on a Streetmate frame?

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

It's pretty killer on a piston port derbi, really easy too.

Do tell.

Could I still use a derbi PP exhaust?

I mean, will a PP exhaust line up with the angled kit or does it till need header modification? (edited)

Angle port is pretty close, still takes a little bend to fit it. Widen the cylinder stud holes on the kit and delete the nubs in the case. Then blast

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

Seems like the go to kit for pp derbi's

if you use a flat port puch kit on derbi, a55 pipes fit terrifyingly well.

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

To get it to fit on a variant you just have to cut a couple of the webs on the fins and widen the stud holes a Lil. I modded a Tomos 44mm head for grasso's flatreed just drilling it out to 3/8", I think, so that would probably work for the cylinder too. Yes a55 side bleed pipe on it rules and mounted with just adding a hole in the massive bracket. Only qualm is it is kind of a dick to start, you have to do a half bump/pedal start thing to get the starter clutch to not slip. I used a hacked header for an intake on a tm24 and it will fit in the frame, barely. 50 ripping up all the hills with no problem.

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

hey guys, doing some research. what's the technical term for the stacked transfer ports? googling that term didn't bring much info. what do these do? at bdc they wouldn't be letting more fresh charge into cylinder in the same manner as main transfers. just to help cool the piston or what is the advantage of these? i've seen them on a fair amount of french kits and also the puch autisa 47mm reed cylinder so it's not just a piston port thing. two stroke tuners handbook didn't mention them from what i can tell.

sorry for zombie thread, just interested in this kit + some porting knowledge.

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

What needs to be done to an A55 Tomos case to make this kit fit ? Boring or welding ?

I'm curious about this as well!

Re: Test & Tune: Puch Airsal EUROKIT 47mm 6 port kit

minimally boring. Its pretty common knowledge that all 47mm kits need bored.

electric start a55 cases have more meat around the transfers and i think there is enough room. honestly the eurokit has too much torque and will ruin your clutches pretty quick. i would say a hero kit with some minimal porting on intake and exhaust is much better.

The ones I have seen have used jb weld then filed it flat. Seemed to work fine.
