Do I need to upjet if changing to an highflow filter?

Christopher Jones /

I recently purchased a garelli ssxl and it doesnt have an air filter. Just the air box, so I was looking into getting an aftermarket filter. Does this generally require to upjet. Sorry noob

Re: Do I need to upjet if changing to an highflow filter?

i'm not as well versed as some others on this ped. that's why i know little about the air box. if it has a filter within it or not. if it does then most likely the answer is yes. the filter presents a restriction and a free-flow filter would present less. so it lets the engine have more air. and with more air it would need more fuel. or at the least a needle adjustment. someone with more knowledge will step in and make a more definitive answer.

Didn't Garelli put those metal mesh filters in their SHA's?

Check it out. Try the upjet, but I suspect you may be fine without it. My limited experience with Garelli leads me to think you will be ok.
