Moby motor is twisting

Tyler Jaynes /

My set up right now is the stock av10 cases, doppler spring, stock clutch with the varplus cheek, ER2 pulley, with malossi belt. I've replaced my motor mounts and have aligned the pulleys but whenever I throw my belt on there my motor twists counterclockwise. like in the picture (not sure if it does justice). I did notice that when I was installing the pivot mounts (spacers) that go into the cylinder head they felt loose so I wasn't sure if those could be the problem. I'm just unsure if my doppler spring needs adjusting or if i need to replace those little spacer inserts?

Re: Moby motor is twisting

cant twist if the mount's proper

Re: Moby motor is twisting

What picture? Take more than one and post them up.

Re: Moby motor is twisting

Is there any slop in the mounting? There should not be. If you replaced the silent blocs (main motor mounts), did you put them in the same place as stock? If you did not get the spacing correct, there will be slop. I don't remember the measurements but they have to go back correct.

oh dang my link is broken. The pic didnt really show much just that when the belt was on the variator was out of alignment with the drive pulley. After I got variator aligned with the pulley i made sure to fill in the empty spcace with washers to prevent slop. I can get it to not twist if i tighten the motor mount hard but I wouldn't ride it around like that because it'll just wreck my mounts in no time. I cant really take any more pics of it anyway since its about 75 miles away from me right now. I only really get to work on it during the weekend sooo shit. Idk I'll just have to install my new pivot mounts when I get a chance. It seems I just have a little more finagling to do I guess.

wait, so I am using the old spring brackets from my av7, that wouldn't have anything to do with it right? I've never compared the av10 to the av7 but I figured the only difference was the small bushing mount location.

Re: Moby motor is twisting

If you are running stock lower mounts then you mist use the correct left mount for a AV10 on a AV10 - or correct AV7 on a AV7

I have the doppler spring so are the hole patterns the same for the two longer bolts that would hold the front doppler bracket on?
