Morini Pietcard

So, I got the pietcard conversion for my MO2 earlier this week. Got it all wired up and went to put the flywheel back on, and it wont fit.

The coil is too fat and interferes with the cam (center of the flywheel) sliding down the crank fully. It looks like there is about 1-2mm of extra space between the inside edge of the flywheel and the outer edge of the coil.

Can I elongate the mounting holes in the coil so I can move it away from the crankshaft? Or would it be better to sand/file down the plastic/epoxy coating on the outside of the coil so that it doesn't interfere with the flywheel?

Re: Morini Pietcard

What color unit?

Re: Morini Pietcard

White. Counterclockwise rotation.

Re: Morini Pietcard

No one has any ideas?

Re: Morini Pietcard

if it was me, i wouldnt mess with the coil. it probably not perfectly concentric. you'll probably end up dremeling the stator holes anyways to get it timed right.

Thats weird man, I just put the same thing in an m1 and it fit perfecto. Anyway I would file the stator plate before the coil.

Re: Morini Pietcard

Filing the stator wouldnt accomplish anything. I'd have to drill and tap new holes, but I only need the coil moved about 2mm away from the crank, so that's not an option.

I can either file the insulation on the coil, elongate the mounting holes, or return it to treats. I think I'll be getting in touch with Benji...

Re: Morini Pietcard

Like I said.. many times. They are not made for italian made.. mopeds.. but motobikes in argentina.. run without the woodruff key and remove some of the white epoxy, imo. Hell its only the cam.. rubbing it.

Did you remove the old ignition coil or did you remove the lighting coil?

Pics? (edited)

Re: Morini Pietcard

I know you said that they werent made for italian peds, Ed. I just don't like messing with things when I don't have a great understanding of their construction. I'm used to modifying most moped parts to work, but I didnt know if removing the epoxy would be ok or if it would ruin the coil. As long as I dont damage the magnetic wire inside I'll be ok, then?

Re: Morini Pietcard

I would say so.. or remove a wee bit and then.. let the magneto cut the rest. There is a ton of epoxy on them. There a great product and maker of ignition systems, cdi, reglutors, .. make other kool things. wee I heart for argentina. :) ya, little hacking it may need to be done, its mopeds :)

The white coil has one hell of a curve just as the black one does. the red and purple have a little less of a curve. Playing with them is surely fun and learning is super fun!

Re: Morini Pietcard

I do love to learn, but my god sometimes it's frustrating. As always, thanks for your input and guidance!

Re: Morini Pietcard

My green one rubbed some. It's just a coating around the coil I removed about 1mm with no issues. If you move it at the mount that might put your gap off a bit. Slowly sandpaper it until it fits should be fine.
